Hm, that's a lot of stuff cut out of Ryouu no Oshigoto's anime. Yeah, if LN's were Shogi with a side dish of lolies, then anime is lolies (and occassionally 20+ women) with bit of shogi.

I heard that so far, each volume was covered in just about 2-3 episodes, and this ep would mark the end of vol 3. I don't doubt that a lot of things are missing, but that every two or three episodes there's a conclusion to a story arc makes it pretty satisfying to follow weekly, and I think they still managed to make things properly emotional. It's definitely made me interested in the source material which imo is really all an adaptation should do most of the time.

There's a pretty big difference between going blind into Ryouu and watching after reading the books. /shrug

Anime is not bombastic enough nor is it as passionate about shogi as the LN. Too bad. Third arc is nice, tho, if only because the third volume is not out in English yet.

Yep. There's differences to the experience of an adaptation when you watch it before reading the source and when you watch it after reading the source
For example: Chaos;Child. I found it average, but after reading the VN, I noticed how many mistakes the adaptation made, which hurt it a lot. (one of them being pretty huge and totally out of character).

Some shows beat Antarctica Girls in specific categories, but it's overall the best show of the season and will probably be in my top five for 2018.

Yeah. Great episode for Antartica girls and all. But it had to come out on a day where I was struggling with nausea and stomach aches. (And I also know what it is to get sick during travels). Not an easy episode to watch for me.

Holy crap, things got real in ep 5 of Seven Deadly Sins. We get our first glimpse of one of the Ten Commandments (Galland of Truth) in battle, and he completely stomps Meliodas, Diane and Merlin at once. If just one of the Commandments can do this much damage, what chance do our heroes have against all ten?

I have to say though, I've been a fan of the show's flavor of over-the-top action so far, but this episode pushed it a bit too far for me. In one fight Meliodas got both his arms lopped off, impaled in the chest with a spear, then stabbed directly through the head (almost surely piercing his brain). Merlin got turned to stone and had her petrified head smashed underfoot by Galland. Since they're the protagonists in a Shonen manga not named Akame Ga Kill, it's obvious there's a literal zero chance of any of them actually biting it here, so the ultra-violence just feels pointless and silly.

The violence is clearly intended to be "shocking" and dramatic, but it actually has the opposite effect. When characters are getting impaled and mutilated every other attack, only to be healed up with no consequence for the next round, it just makes the whole stakes of the fight meaningless. What would it even take to actually kill someone at this point, when being freaking turned to stone and smashed to dust isn't a sure indicator of death?

Darling in the FranXX Episode 4: The fight at the end was so amazing, they tore right through that Klaxxosaur so easily.

Yet another good episode of TnM. Interesting reveals and I love all the girls. I want to see the next episode already. Can't wait to see the girls eventually face Tajitsu-hime

Now that Grancrest has slowed down a bit I'm feeling it a lot more, and I actually found the relationship in this last ep a lot more sympathetic than I expected it to be.

I mean, I didn't have to remember new names and didn't feel my neck breaking between scene changes!

Wow, Killing Bites. I thought you couldn't get any trashier than an attack title card for double dicked rape, and then you have the death match turn into lesbian sex. With it's own attack card as well.

I think this latest episode of Violent Enervation might be my favourite, especially the ending. Everything's suddenly hitting her all at once, the bad side of learning about peoples' hopes and dreams and emotions.

This is a nice season -- there's more than two shows I'm watching and actually invested in.
