At some point in their lives, all who pursue the path of Magecraft face a certain dilemma.

For all their wealth, for all their fame, for all their mystical knowledge, they will one day pass away before accomplishing their goals. It is not a matter of resources or skill, but time. The life of a single magus is simply too short to reach the Root. While there are methods of extending one’s lifespan, even they only delay the inevitable. Thus, it is the way of a magus to pass their wish onto their descendants, so that eventually they will accomplish what their ancestors could not.

You are a magus. At the age of 28, you are a single male, dedicated to your research. You are the successor of a moderately old lineage, possess some degree of wealth and have acquired a few accomplishments to your name. Like all of your colleagues, you seek to reach the Root.

As you near three full decades of life, however, you have begun to come to terms with your own mortality. You now understand the limits of your ability and the fact that you yourself will likely not reach the goals you have inherited from your ancestors. Although you still feel young, you have decided that it is time to start considering the next generation, before it is too late.

That said, you are no half-measure. If you’re going to do something, you’re going to do it right, whether it’s performing mysteries beyond the scope of comprehension or raising a child.

You can already imagine the result. Magic circuits of the highest quality. Mastery of the art of spell casting. Knowledge of arcane secrets. Influence to shake the world. Wealth to obtain any treasure. The abilities of your heir are limited solely by the efforts you put into raising him.

Your goal is not to raise a child. Your mission is to create an heir with the potential to reach the Root; you will raise a Magician!

Now, you embark on the most difficult journey known to man, the trial called parenthood. Thus battle will challenge you in ways you never could’ve imagined. It will take time, energy, money, willpower, and more caffeine than the human body can cope with. But at the end of the day, the result will be worth it.
