Neglected and (Unduly) Hated Anime Characters

Her evil actions are way too extreme for her to be even slightly redeemed unless she completely remade her entire personality, which she shows no signs of doing.

She does indeed say that: She's a Social Darwinist, so if she kills a person, her victim is the criminal for not being strong enough to defend themselves. The fact that she can kill entire towns by blinking doesn't matter either because she literally gets aroused by slaughtering people in the most dementedly vile ways and since she likes it, and she's strong it is the morally right thing to do.

I'm in the middle of trying to write an alternate ending fic in which Tatsumi mindfucks her by explaining that she's lived her entire life following the mantra of a weak man. This of course, doesn't do much other than distracting her because her mind is a twisted steel trap…God, she didn't suffer nearly enough at the end… but credit where it's due, she was one hell of a fighter.

As a villain, 30/10.

I like the fact that she knows she's on the evil side. That she wants to find someone to care for her and tries to put her all into it. And when that person turns out to be opposing her, she instead wants to be the one to put him down. She also seemed to really care for her subordinates.

No, as monstrous as Esdeath was she clearly cared about her fellow Jaegers to some degree. In the anime at least, she even shows up at the funeral of some Jaeger members (I think Bols?) openly mourning their deaths. Her normal subordinates (as in, those not strong enough to earn her respect) however, she almost certainly cares nothing for and treats as perfectly disposable.
