Yeah, and since when do Bankers not love money...?
He didn't say banks were evil, though, he said they were the source of evil.
They produce evil, and give away a little of it on top of every Savings account and loan they give out.

Oh come on this is Zelretch. Drop an asteroid on a bank to steal gold. How boring. If we was just going to steal gold he could just hop over to a universe where planets are made of nothing but gold and take a chunk of it.
No Zelrecth needs to have a more awesome way of making money. Perhaps he hopped over to a more sci-fi orientated universe and started and intergalactic corporation that mines minerals from asteroids and then sells them to the highest bidder.
Or perhaps he has the worlds governments paying his bills by convincing them to pay him to not unleashing an army of magical girls(and boys). As soon as he gets a bill that world is plunged into chaos as every ten year old gets their own personal copy of the Kaleido Stick. He then films it and uses that film to show the next worlds governments why they should give him money,
Zelretch doesn't need money.
Eh, even a third-rate like Shirou can reinforce stuff and fix things efficiently by analyzing their structure. All he had to do was ask Issei to stay outside because he "needs to focus". It's an useless skill to an actively studying magi, but it's well possible that there are countless other skills like that that'll allow magi to perform those services for cash in the mundane community, while it being useless to their real aspirations. Besides, Magecraft is known to be be the reenactment of artificial miracles, and isn't it what science can accomplish anyway, minus the time and resources? It's what differentiates sorcery from real magic, iirc. If being a magi was hard, I'd have a hard time picturing families trying their darnest to produce a good heir with a good amount of circuits, and the Academy wouldn't be as popular as it is. To get an establishment running you need a constant flux for clientele. Sure you have the ancient families who are loaded, but to those less famous but making their way slowly up the scale, even family name pride can only carry you that far before you get bricked by the reality that is modern world economy. Money makes the world go round, or so they say.
Most of them seem to be old families with vast inheritances.
