Actually with any sort of visual cover like darkness I think they'd be fine. The Shinsengumi were actually more successful in their own guerrilla inner-city activities and tended to be on the losing side in open warfare. And Kotarou's whole NP is about raiding enemy army setups rather than fighting another team that's also going guerrilla.

I don't think Kotarou's army actually sticks around, I think they're just there for the initial surprise attack. They wouldn't be able to get into a full fight with the Shinsengumi.

I suppose if Kotarou had knowledge he'd just hide out in the darkness till weak constitution kicks in. If not he pretty much has only one shot with a sneak attack.

Eh, nothing concrete, just the wording. It makes it seem like they appear and immediately rush the opponent. Also there's no mention of them being able to fight after the initial attack which seems like it would come up.

This is just my impression anyway. I wouldn't argue if you dosagreed.

Ivan puts up a strong fight in front of a team of servants, some a bit average and others strong, but not top-tier or anything. Ivan's only defeated by nerfing thanks to Salieri. Lion King on the other hand is probably more impressive visually, both in the versatility of her abilities and nuke capacity. I'd wager she's stronger in the area of brute force and her shields are enough that multiple Denderas can't break through.

I'd probably side with Seiba.

I forget but wasn't the only reason they could win against the lion king because they had Excalibur which canceled lot's of Rhon's buffs like it did with the gifts? Even then they didn't kill the Lion King did they? They only broke Rhon. So who knows.

Ivan's bruteforce is also insane. His body when fused with the mammoth is divine spirit lvl and they compare him to the true body of Olympian gods. While his actual movement is slow, when accompanying with his lightning, he is capable of instant movement like teleportation. His lightning strikes are divine spirit lvl and that was what outdamaged Adam's regen, which ended up giving Ivan the win. He causes avalanche by just moving, a normal attack from the trunk is comparable to an anti-army NP. He is invincible and the nerf was after some time to take effect. In term of showing impressive image, it's him for me tbh.
