Shirou can definitely bench more. I can buy Shiki being better trained in HtH, either by the Nanayas or the Tohnos, but he's still supposed to be an anemic nerd in practice. Could go either way.

Again, when not using projection, shirou does not have anything suggesting he can keep up with shiki’s abilities, especially his speed. It’s also worth noting shiki’s preternatural death sense does not require him to be using a weapon, whereas shirou’s best defenses explicitly do not work without a projected weapon such as caliburn or KnB

to put that another way, weaponless shiki can still use some of his trump cards. Shirou cannot, making it a very simple match up.

Trump cards or no, I do remember that Shiki and bro whose name I can't remember were roaming back alleys, getting in fights and getting into trouble when at the same age Shirou was doing archery and cooking with kouhai.

Archery requires a surprising amount of muscle, he moonlights as a handyman at school, works at that bar, and above all keeps up a strict training regiment every day. He might not be trained in fisticuffs, but he's definitely got more muscle to swing about.

Also, this was supposed to be a hand to hand battle, MeoDP should be sitting this one out unless the premise is actually them trying to kill each other with their bare hands.

I wasn’t talking about death perception, I was talking about thinks like death sense (which is a completely different thing) flash step, and some of the bare handed assasination techniques that shiki knows.

Actually, important distinction: Is this start of the story Shiki, post-Tsukihime, Melty Blood, or some other version?
Shirou's odds don't really change much regardless of version.

also ”nanaya mode” is really just a catch all term for when shiki decides to kill something.

its easier to do against inhumans (even triggering against his will) but he actually can do it against humans if he feels like it. he does against ciel, for example.

Well Taiga is a swordsman not a Ninja Assassin so she'd probably lose at hand-to-hand. Plus Shiki has a Plus Modifier against Onee-chan types.

The class cards tend to nerf the NPs dont it? While Sieg has his time limit I'm pretty sure Armor of Fafnir is still functioning quite well.

I'd lean toward Sieg since I believe cards are generally weaker than actual Servants, but Prisma!Illya has the wish stuff powering her too.

God Hand and Zabaniya are nerfed, but Excalibur and Gae Bolg should be full power IIRC.

Chaldea!Sieg can still turn into Siegfried? I thought he was restricted (if you can call it a restriction) to turning into a dragon.

What are the circumstances for this fight? Because I don't see either of them going at it just because.
