an offhand remark which was wrong.

Yeah, that it wasn't. See "pedantry" above.
(Which is actually perfectly appropriate, considering we're talking about Adorno.)

what you call pedantry is the bare minimum of due diligence.

I always loved how "due diligence" in Italian is almost identical to "two stagecoaches".

Jeanne spends the entirety of Apocrypha being a "tough soldier" and denying she has those pesky feeling things about anything or anyone, which is precisely why Shakespeare proving she does basically breaks her in half.
Who the exact object of her affection is is irrelevant as to the portrayal of the character herself. As for whether it would fit the character of historical Jeanne d'Arc to fall in love like that HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA "historical Jeanne D' Arc" HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA have you even seen Arthur Pendragon?

And yes, in romances both real and fictional, it is in fact Very important who the participants are.

Look, the only anime whitehead pretty boy around back in France was some emo nerd who wrote double suicide poetry about the most popular girl in the country, cut poor Jeanne some slack for when she finally found someone in her strike zone

That'd be robbing the cradle a couple hundred years in advance, a bit extreme even for Jeanne.

I mean no disrespect fish Rin, but it really was crappy; it honestly felt a bit narcissistic because both were extremely similar in personality besides blaming everything that ever happened on oneself.

    Still, if it's a whoppin' youre-ah wantin'

You mean a subplot with almost no relevance to the actual story?

Who you love has, or should have, no impact on who you are. Its effects on the story are a whole different matter.

Any kind of meaningful human relationship has impact on who you are.

It wasn't central to the actual story, but it was a minor, but important little subplot that also contributed to the message that Shirou really needed to start learning self-love, and it also is a major reason why UBW Shirou won't become Archer. Also, I just found it rather sweet, and it enhanced the more important partner dynamic Rin and Shirou had in that route.
