The whole reason EMIYA is in the HGW at all is specifically to kill his past self, so if he were summoned in his exact timeline it's difficult to believe he wouldn't have paradoxed himself out of existence the second he got a chance.

Thats right, and this Rins servant ( maybe still an Archer) is a mistery. Now you talk about it, is logic that he put that goal aside in HF, there was other priorities, like stop the shadow, and he realized that Shiro was going a very differnet path, but what about Fate rute? Apparently his own timleine is like a "romanceless Fate rute" and him being injured is not enought excuse, when he was fully recovered , he still rather fight Herc and pretty much saved shiro, Rin and Saber. Maybe it was just not the perfect chance he had in UBW

Emiya seems to put his own mission of killing Shirou behind making sure Rin and Saber got through the war safely.

I'm only familiar with stay night and Zero... Out of those, it's a tossup between True Assassin, Gil and Gilles, although the latter two are at least funny (Gilles especially) and Gil has some cool fight scenes. I despise who the Assassins were and I don't like TA's role in HF, though I do get the feeling I'd get along with him better than with Gil as long as he wasn't trying to kill me.

I'm trying to restrain myself from going on an endless tear about the character designs. I probably dislike or outright hate the majority of them, but I don't know enough of the spinoffs to say whether I'd dislike the characters as a whole. Darius being a 300 knockoff annoys me the most.

I used to think Teach was dumb too, but Bloble convinced me that his character is actually a pretty good modernization of the pirate concept. Otaku in modern fiction tend to be either treated as gross weirdos or romanticized for their rejection of society's norms, which is sort of like how pirates are depicted. Plus they're both obsessed with collecting booty (literally or figuratively).

(Note that Bloble's post was worded way more articulately than this. I'm just summarizing from memory here.)

He's disturbingly likeable for a guy whose goal in life is literally World War 3. Not even the sort-of-understandable Gil goal of Kill The Weak For The Species, or even the likes of Zouken, who eats people to keep himself alive- the dude just wants to murder his way across the planet. Abigail "We don't know how to do witch trials, give it tentacles" Williams. I probably can't explain this as well as others but after being such a massive fan of "The Crucible", which though historically inaccurate on some matters is obviously a good play, and seeing all the complexities to her character in that as well as some interesting matters concerning the trials in real life it just feels like a letdown of a character. Also a young girl isn't necessarily yet another loli waifu but that point is more just a complaint with F/GO as a whole.

Because he doesn't want to murder his way across the planet. He wants to conquer his way across the planet. Which, for him, are entirely different concepts. Hell, if everyone agreed to fall under his rule there wouldn't even have to be a war at all (unlike Mr. Genocide-makes-species-strong Gilgamesh.)

oh, i forgot Cu alter. Weird since "Vanilla" Cu, as i mentioned in the other thread, is maybe my fav male servant, but alter is too much of an edgy fantasy for me, everything about him ( and now i realized Medb is other of my least faves)n

kind of the point of his character, but yes, his bland ass could really benefit from some fun/meme factor
