Is it really so weird that Mephisto is a clown? I think we've had this discussion before but that seems like a common thing to do, like I do associate clown imagery with him. FGO Mephisto never surprised me.

I'd say Mephistopheles' clown imagery makes sense when you consider his role in Marlowe's and Goethe's works and how similar it is to the harlequin of commedia dell'arte and how some authors trace that character type to devilish figures in both folklore and Medieval passion plays.
