That's the point. They're supposed to contrast with Karna. Arjuna is supposed to be that way because he is supposed to embody good and humility, traits that people expect of him for being a great hero which is the point of his character. Not everyone has to be walking Visual Kei
Furthermore, simple =/= bad. Arjuna's design is very elegant and actually has many references to the common depiction of Arjuna in the Mahabhrata.
Not saying he needs to be full Visual Kei, but something like the Lostbelt Berserker's (Indrajit?) armor would have been better in my opinion

I'll second that. Love the work Y.Aoi's done with her voice, but the insulating tape is just...off. Doesn't really fit her character,either. Should have kept the kimono.

Arjuna's design is amazing, what are you on about.
Simple and crisp yet elegant, with just enough flourishes in the blue accents and the quivers to be distinctive.
Yeah, unlike majority of Servants, Arjuna's design is a compelling craft of art in which a glance is all we needed to know that he's the one and only Arjuna. It's impossible to mistake him with anybody else.

I like both Arjuna and Karna's designs. Arjuna's is very classic and traditional and it's nice to see his creator checked out and put in care to make a character that actually has a connection with the originating culture, while not being obsessive about any historical accuracy one could get hung up on.
Meanwhile Karna's is a combination of Cirque du Soleil aesthetics and something modern adaptations of their myth actually would believably feature costumewise (seriously, the armors and sets in these are delightfully over-the-top), and I think both are rather neat to weave in.
In a sense both come off as ancient, current, and futuristic at the same time and they're definitely some of the best out of TM in general.

To my eyes, there's nothing ancient about either of them. I would agree if they had some resemblance to even a classic if anachronistic portrayal of a mythical hero (a la Arturia's plate armor), but as such, Arjuna looks altogether modern or even slightly futuristic while Karna looks like a pure fantasy design.
I'm happy that Arjuna is a brown guy and his clothing is sort of Indian-looking. But it doesn't invoke anything mythical to me.
