Exactly. Also, the source materials of every hero are always there to read or research, the appeal of Fate is they particular take on them, and the goofy designs dont avoid for you to know the original legend and apreciate it. For example, i know Cu Chulainn didnt wore a blue spandex, but thanks to Fate i know about Cu Chulainn
There is a pop culture image of them doing so. Actually only a few Celtic tribes (certain Cisalpine Gauls, I believe) are historically said to have fought naked, and the bodypaint belonged to Britons before they were Romanized. If you read the Irish epics, the Gaels normally fought in a tunic and armors of iron (probably mail), leather and/or linen, sometimes in complex layers and pieces.
Personally, I would like to see more of the heroes designed in such a way that more reflects the periods they come from because as a history geek I like the notion of bringing together heroes from disparate times and places, and what that might look like. Not necessarily historically accurate, but at least bearing the same relation to their periods as, say, Alexander's design bears to Classical Greece - you can see that it's inspired by that period. When the characters wear modern or even futuristic-looking comic book-type costumes, for me it hampers the sense that we're seeing ancient legendary figures.

O walls, you have held up so much tedious graffiti that I am amazed you have not already collapsed in ruin.
I know; I just wanted to dispel any illusion that that was historical. If one wants to play to the image without the character actually being naked, a pair of short Gaulish breeches and actual bodypaint would suffice for Cu and the other Irishmen IMO. Maybe the same plus some kind of minimalist top for Scathach.

I've mentioned this before, but I'd completely redesign Beowulf away from his "Tyler Durden-ness". Not the only example, but it's the one that first jumps to mind.
In general, I agree with You: leave Arturia alone, but reverse all other genderbends and just use actual female characters from myth and legend.
None of what he said has anything remotely to do with "political correctness".
Give Cu Proto Cu's outfit and call it a day tbh
Maybe without the shoulderpad.
@Spoony
i actually like the cureent Beo design, but dislike the overly meme aspects of his character.
how would you change his design?
Something closer to his design in Zemeckis' "Beowulf" would be my preference, with his initial stages being wild, even barbaric, and him slowly growing more regal with each ascension. Alternatively, if he absolutely must be a Tyler Durden reference, at least trade his jeans for some more appropriate Norse pants.
Or, if you want to go full meme, take visual cues from Cristopher Lambert's 1999 "Beowulf" movie.

Heh, now I want them to make a Vercingetorix Servant based on Lambert.

i like the shoulderpad, lol
But really, i would not redesign anyone. Yeah, maybe i would not mind give jack more clothes ( her cloaked look is good) , or Altemiya being less try hard , blackbeard more serious or Boudica more warrior ish, but maybe someone else enjoys them, and why take it away form them? If you dont like a design, there will be always others that you will like, and if you dont like most of them, well, maybe this franchise is not for you.

That's...completly understandable, actually. Completely realistic designs would get kinda dull. Although I maintain I'd like more cultural accuracy in the designs.
In Achilles' case I'm fine with his armor it's just the carrot features...eh I like how it looks so I shouldn't complain...
Beyond human you mean.
She's not even a case of a design that i feel is turning the fanservice dial too much like some other character, she just flats out creep me out. Lancer raikou especially, she seriously disturbs me whenever i see her. It feels like i'm seeing some sorta weird alien pretending to be human. Like she's not so much out there that i disassociate her to a human, like say with ivan, but she also doesn't look quite human. Being in that weird zone is what makes me uncomfortable seeing the raita art of her, a bunch of fanarts are fine though and i have no real major qualms about the designs themselves.

Raikou’s design is FINE but Raita’s art makes her look like a purple ostrich so people telling me she’s Hot Sexe is......lol
