Also, the only reason I even suggested that is that Gudao looks like a male version of Rin in some ways, just as Gudako looks like a female Shirou. I think Takeuchi said in an interview a few years back that he designed Gudao and Gudako as genderbent vertions of Rin and Shirou. So that they look similar is something that was there from their designs conceptions. Can't remember which interview or source it was though, that was some time ago.
I think Lancelot was CG to make him feel weird to reflect For Someone's Glory blocking his stat sheet. I don't really see a reason for KH to be CG.

I was thinking FGO Mats vol. 1, but there he didn't say that, only strongly implied it.
1) CG is not generally used because of a lack of money, its used to make production easier and faster.
2) Budget is not as important to animation quality as you think. For example, the staff of One Punch Man S1 actually talked about how their budget was fairly average. Same with KyoAni. Animation is art like any other, a big stack of dollars wont make a painter paint above his abilities, especially not if you give him a tight deadline.
Basically treat your animators like human beings and the end result will be good. This has been in production for over a year so it should be fine, even then its not like Gramps moves anyway or has any part of him that would stick out more than it already does in CGI

Well, as with all creative work there obviously is a skill ceiling. You cant make what you dont have the skills to make, even with ideal circumstances. Hence why its breddy nice when the producer of a show has a long list of top tier animators on speed dial, as seen here.
