It'll obviously be a short summary at the start or nothing at all.
Any changes to the story will be due to the adaptation and not to accommodate any new viewers.
imo people are reading way too much to this statement, it’s most likely just PR to lure people into watching. Probably will just be some short borderline useless recap in the first episode.
“Oh senpai, we’ve been through so much. Orleans, septem, okeanos, blah blah *still shots of some key events from all the singularities* and now we’re finally here, heading into the final singularity!”

The story of Grand Order, arguably even now, is convoluted but not that difficult to follow, even when skipping segments (although I still wish they hadn't done that anyway.)
I mean, it'd be very difficult to follow along if you pulled in every Servant who has attached themselves to you until now, but this is probably just Mash, Fou and the Cardboard Cutout leaping in while Roman and Da Vinci play home control and they meet the Singularity players, and it's not like Cardboard Cutout has an amazingly deep personality whose development you have missed on until now.
It may be only me who takes really offense to these types of "self insert" characters in a setting as character and story based as these. One thing i really like about Nasu's original works is that even though your playing from a POV and can even make choices, the characters are their own, and have their own views. shirou being a prime example in that he literally can show up in every fate series as himself
I hope I can enjoy this without the mobage, because fuck playing that shit. I ain't playing a game I can't clear without gambling.

I highly doubt that you can without following the game.

Well, I'm choosing to trust them on this one. Maybe GO shouldn't be gacha. But I refuse to play the game or look up the original shitty fan translations that only God knows where they are. And I am not risking looking it up on Youtube only to find out some chapter has been deleted over copyright bullshit and I need to find some other loser and start again from scratch (since people go at different speeds and different video lengths, and thus chapter 50 in dude X's playthrough may be chapter 40 or chapter 56 in dude Y's playthrough)

You CAN clear GO without gambling. I haven't spent a single dime on it and I'm doing fine.
Not that you should play it if you don't want to, of course.
Wasting money is not a must. You can pretty much clear the main story up to Solomon with 1*-3* Servants

You can use the Chaldea Archive Project, courtesy of Aozaki-desu.
How hard is it, though? Because Lunatic mode in Touhou (for example) CAN be cleared, but it doesn't mean I'd ever have the patience and/or skill for it. I'm not interested if F2P F/GO can be cleared, but with the catch of the game being (metaphorically speaking) locked into "hard" or "very hard"

It’s pretty easy and a lot of hard fights are actually easier with lower rarity Servants since they take less resources to max out and since everybody has them people have made guides about the best strategies that anyone can use
The biggest handicap is that stubbornly holding out for so long means you don’t have any of the free event characters or CEs
Part of the reason I haven't tried getting into F/GO before (besides my hatred of gacha and thinking they're the worst type of game and fucking scams) is because I had a very shitty phone and I got a decent phone that can play it only recently (like some months ago)

The game also lets you borrow a friends servant into your 6 man pokemon team so just by picking a lvl 100 Cu Alter you can probably clear everything up to Camelot.
Forget Cu Alter, Cu Alter is shit. Best boy Support Herc is your man.
