KC Akagi and Kaga have better designs, and better personalities. KanColle's designs are really nice for their memorability despite their austerity, and AL's Kaga and Akagi personality-wise are basically just anime character archetypes. To be fair to AL though, on that end it can't really compete with how many character voice lines KC has, not to mention all its fanworks. I think it's telling that most fanart and comics that KanColle gets are character interaction-heavy slice-of-life rather than porn.

So, just started this 3 days ago. It's fun enough. Unlike KanColle, who admittedly has no gameplay whatsoever, here I can choose between playing or leaving in on auto when I'm busy. I like it.

I'd say it's unfair to compare the Azur Lane girls against the sheer amount of characterization KanColle's shipgirls have gotten through the game, anime, movie, and unfathomable amounts of fanworks. And let's be honest, AL is all about the lewds. On the other hand, AL does have visual novel-like scenes, but those aren't precisely riveting storytelling. You could even say KanColle doesn't need such a thing: I thought the last Leyte event was amazing, and the story there was presented through a few voiced lines and, perhaps more importantly, through music.

KanColle has become my second Touhou: I don't play it anymore, but I still keep an eye on everything that comes out of it, because I love the concept and characters. Tone, Isuzu and RJ are still my waifus (dem twintails, man). With that said, AL's Prinz Eugen is truly perfection. Like, holy shit.
