Well, now that I've put this in the correct sub-forum, back to business.

Basically, this VN is a very fun and refreshing intro back into the battle royale action stories such as Fate/Stay Night. That being said, this unfortunately pulls way too much from Fate than I'd like, (12 Magi, having to fight against each other, winner receives ultimate magic, Protagonist and his rival are mirror shards of Shirou and Archer, etc.) but the battle scenes, CG's, voices and effects merge together for a damned near epic experience. Personally I haven't enjoyed reading a VN in quite a while, and this one kept me on the edge of my seat and staying up later than I should for a few nights (well, days) to read more.

As I said, this emulates Fate/Stay Night, in that on the island this story takes place, 12 people who are gifted with magic (whether they are aware of it or not) are gathered and a war is thrust upon them. The war, dubbed Ragnarok, is a battle royal and the winner receives any wish they want. This already brings reference to the Holy Grail War and 7 Masters and Servants, but also takes another page in that many of the weapons and abilities each of the participants have are lifted from Norse legend, as many might have guessed since the War is Ragnarok. Also, there's not as much passive potential for everyone in case they all just wanted to say screw fighting - if someone is not killed within 13 hours of whenever Eyespace (an alternate dimension only mages are allowed to enter) is invoked, Eyespace converges on the real world and the island they are all on will cease to exist.

Truthfully, I cannot say exactly which weapons, etc. are emulated here, since I don't know the legend well enough, and my translation program kinda breaks when they try to say something in English. I do know a couple of them though, for example, one person uses lightning and his weapon is called Jarngreipr, Thor's magical gauntlet that allowed him to wield his hammer. Another uses the sword Tyrfing, etc.

Also, another page, everyone can be viewed with their stats and parameters, and their different techniques via a separate screen that brings to mind the Status screen from Fate. Parameters include Strength, Speed, Range, Stamina, Skill, Magic Capacity, and Potential.

Oh, now I come to my favorite part of this VN: The music. The score for everything out of battle is your normal slice of life stuff or character themes, but almost every battle scene has it's own unique track associated with it, and many of them include orchestra, vocalists, and electric guitar. It is by far the best soundtrack I've heard for a very long time, and I've already bought the whole thing. Not "gotten" from somewhere, I bought the damn thing, and I rarely do so. Here's an example I bring to you:

This story also brings a little nostalgia for those of you who are fans of the Da Capo VN series, as this work was a co-operative venture by Circus and Broccoli, and the influence by Circus is heavily seen in many ways. Protagonists name is Yoshino Reiji, his weapon is a sentient summoned spirit from a cherry tree, aptly named Sakura, and to top it all off, Reiji's core ability is called Da Capo (which imo is probably one of the most hacked abilities I've ever heard of.)

While it is a Fate clone for all intents and purposes, Fortissimo should be an enjoyable experience and a closer look at for those who loved Fate/Stay Night.

If it's not translated then I really can't get too interested. Are there any efforts to make a patch? Also, does it just describe combat or do you actually fight?

True, it's not translated, but personally I prefer it that way. In my experience many official licensed translations sucks badly from time to time with word selection, up to the point where it's just awkward to read. I prefer broken translation via AGTH and Atlas now, because I've become able to fill in the blanks and complete many of the sentences because I get enough in order to do so. As far as efforts go for an English patch, no news on that front imo, although I'd love to see it happen if it meant it could get exposed to more people. Truth be told, if I had a video capture device I'd start recording bits and pieces and slowly throw them up on YT with as much translated as I could do.

Also, no, you don't fight like an RPG game or the like that seems to have become popular lately in many VN's. Battles are described from one person's POV.

And I already like Momiji's character/character design from the get-go as well (that and the gun-wielding albino girl), so yeah. Sweet.

Quick Question: Is this an all-ages VN or does it contain H-scenes?
(not that this will affect my decision to play the game one way or another, of course)

The albino girl your talking about is Sayuki, who is the protag's non-blood related younger sister. She's the cool-dere type, and she cute.

Also, there's no H-scenes, although there's a few off-screen H done. There is a bit of fan service here and there, but nothing too extreme. I think there's supposed to be an 18+ version out there or something of the like, but I don't really care that much to go look for it.

Also, one other important note to make. For those who are looking for this VN, make sure the title you're searching for is Fortissimo EXA//Akkord:Bsusvier and not Fortissimo//Akkord:Bsusvier.

The EXA really does make all the difference, as it is the latest release, and it has additional CG's, an expanded (and better) ending, and most importantly, VOICED. That's right, the original wasn't voiced. Thank god it is now.

Seriously though, this really is a Fate clone at it's core because there just isn't enough originality to argue otherwise, but I love that genre so it plays keenly to my interest.

Thus, that's why I said it you liked or loved Fate/Stay Night, you'll probably like Fortissimo. If not, than that's the individual's prerogative.

Also IRUn, despite the Dante comparison of her weapons (white and black handguns) one of the names of those guns should be familiar along with the Da Capo archtype. The black gun is called Archimedes, while the white one is Utamaru.

Well, it depends on the person. I liked Fate (NO REALLY?!) but I'm not fond of Fate clones because... dude, I already played Fate, give me something new!

There's so many VNs/eroge out there and so many of them are obvious clones of something else, it's hard to find original stuff.

Well, you're correct on that, that's for sure Koto. Still, I kinda work it to where I can think of it as "it's similar, yet different" because not all of these can be a complete copy. Main example for me is that the main villian here could bend Gil over and pound him into submission without batting an eye.

Hmm, I'm seriously thinking of doing a video walkthrough of this for everyone, but I'd rather have others opinion of my half-assed translation, at least see if it's good enough. I know there's a couple of people out there (Evo, I know for one, not sure if he'll see this though) who understand Japanese a lot better than I do, so any critiques/praise/bitchslaps are welcome. Just please don't flame too harshly if you disapprove.

With that being said, here's my test baby for this idea, the Prologue. Make sure to enable Closed Captions by clicking the "CC" button on the toolbar!

Also, minor notes: I know I screwed up a little with timing the subtitles a couple times, most notably around 3:00. Also, the sound got a little desynched from the video from around 4:20 onwards, but it didn't get too far off track.

I'm thinking of this like Princess Waltz. Sure, it's a "Fate clone", but I was still able to enjoy the game for what it offered by sheer entertainment purposes alone.
