DxD's worldbuilding is surprisingly robust, in that I'd love to run an RPG in there or just write a story with original characters that would actually fit in with the setting. The action scenes, especially in the novel, are also surprisingly enjoyable and the characters distinct enough to stand out without overshadowing each other.

Reflecting a bit on it, it's probably exactly the kind of thing Dully accuses Fate of becoming- a simplified, generic MMO-like setting where characters are essentially a collection of traits slapped together on a (typically fanservicey) design. I don't think that's neccesarily a bad thing. It's the fastfood of literature, yes -big tits,big punches and/or LAZORS, and cheap comedy- but while it might not be healthy, it's enjoyable enough that everyone indulges themselves now and then.

Compared to some of the otaku-pandering trash that's out there, like NGNL, it's honestly a shining beacon of quality, really.

Essentially this comment. For the low standards it must achieve, it does it. Also, it has fairly good crossover potential with quite a few other series, so that makes things better.

I, despite being Indian-American, am no fan of Gandhi and what he stood for (except Independence), but the hunger strike actually worked. That, and hunger strikes are usually predicated on the premise that it'd look real bad to the authorities if a particularly notable political prisoner died on their watch.

GS have a HUGE tonal dissonance , starting with every girl being a moeblob , yeah, even the ones that were not tha lucky were moeblobs and would have been typical seasonal waifus otherwise.
GS is not groundbreaking, is the epitome of a edgy teenage fantasy, but once you realize it, it can be entertaining, i quite like the manga

First, if you need to be drunk to watch JoJo, then you're not doing it properly. You have to be able to appreciate the weirdness sober.

Second, while I am annoyed by Issei, I will say he is no rapist or incel, just a really, really horny high schooler. He is actually pretty respectful as things go, and he doesn't feel that same ugly entitlement that characterizes incels.

Finally, how can you say the Hero Faction was the biggest waste if you haven't even read the numerous light novels they still have before they get defeated? HERO only covered their introduction.

I'm not sure how unpopular this is, but despite the fact that Satsuki is supposed to be entirely unremarkable, she sticks with me as a great example of a tragic character and I find her final scene to be among the most memorable and emotional bits of Tsukihime.

From a meta perspective, at least. Tohno can barely remember her, her character design is the least standout and her only visible outfit is her school uniform.

Well Type Moon pay a lot of attention to her for a minor character, and she also had the mini-arc in Akiha's route. I always thought her plain look was what contributes to her as a character.

3. I was arguing in favor of someone creating an anime revolving around heroes and not demons with some heroes thrown here and there. There's a reason I mentioned RWBY a few times in this thread: they are about as close as anyone has gotten, especially with JNPR.

...... To be honest, I don't know her that well. Although we're in the same class, I can count the times we've spoken.

But Yumizuka Satsuki is the center of attention.
She's often the topic of conversation among the boys, and there aren't any bad rumors about her among the girls. In short, she's your typical class idol.

Naturally, she's always surrounded by a crowd. She's the complete opposite of a loner like me.
While I might be able to remember the name 'Yumizuka Satsuki', there's no reason for her to remember the name 'Tohno Shiki'. It seems like some bothersome coincidences are at work today.

On the subject of hunger strikes, the only way they ever work is if the government you are opposing has enough standards, or at least enough international pressure, to be twharted through a plethora of any other means that don't involve damaging yourself under the watch of higher powers who would rather have you killing yourself and doing their dirty job for them.

Otherwise, and take it from someone who's lived through like two decades of that shit by now, those things never fucking work at all.
