I went through and checked for myself, for whoever I personally thought was just blatant fanservice. Not counting characters who had the same design before FGO, and obviously not counting swimsuits (since that'd be fucking stupid), then including the ones you listed who basically count just by virtue of being hUGE, I can count like 29. At most. And that's if I'm super lax with what my requirements would be.

"It's all fanservice trash now and it's destroying good character design", not even 10%. Meanwhile FSN with 1/7th, Extra with what's a lot more than I cba to count, Apo with 1/8th, Fragments with 1/7th as well, and so on.

Again, it just feels like people rag on FGO for this because it continously adds new characters, so it's something that you'll notice more often, same as with the video game industry argument above, but conveniently overlook any context or comparisons.

I wouldn't say it never ever had it. We've had it since the Industrial Revolution, and it's likely it will never go away until the Earth explodes or something. But F/GO and other gacha games play on that as their only selling point, if any, from a design standpoint and on events with timers to keep you playing and spending money on it. It's bad game design and in my opinion shouldn't be encouraged by giving them the money they... are in fact already making.

One thing is somewhat shrewd marketing tactics such as King Arthur's gender, which still makes for decent storytelling without significantly changing the design of the story and selling merchandise off it, which is arguably to some point a proper sales tactic, and then what freemium games do to its consumers.

The reason why I said it's Fortnite with Servants it's because mostly it relies on mostly cosmetic add-ons and rewards you can get for a limited time, preying on player's fear of missing out and their desire to have the cooler Servants/skins, as well as other players showing them off, further reinforcing the desire to get them through money expense, which is another rather scummy design tactic, one that in my opinion hasn't just ruined TM but the gaming industry as a whole.

So do you think how can they get the money when the game itself is free?
The number of servants that get different outfit also has pretty small percentage even though they also can be relevant to your team. For the limited servants thing, they will return someday, it's not like you need to get them now

I'm pretty sure only less than 5% of FGO original cast have F cups pouring out of their chest while wearing super skimpy clothing, specifically the ones who more or less fit your description are: Raikou (Berserker + Lancer), Sheba, Scheherazade, Gorgon, Xuanzang, Anne, Artemis, Mata Hari, Boudica. That's 10 out of 220+ servants including males and swimsuits. Stop exaggerating shit.

Oddly enough, there are girls (and guys) of every taste, it's definitely not a balloon bonanza.

Let's not bring out the "oh poor game devs how will they make money without exploitative gambling mechanics". Gacha is a terrible system, and FGO's is one of the worst offenders.

The point of FGO isn't to win, though. It's the waifus, and that's where the problem lies. The gacha itself is an exploitative, manipulative and just plain shitty system, and FGO's gacha is one of the worst.

No safety net. You can go a year and hundreds of quartz without seeing a single SSR. No monetary safety net (as in, a button that might say "I can only afford to spend this much on FGO per month, stop me there"- just to put that in perspective, you can even ask casinos to stop you from spending past a certain amount, and they'll gladly do that). Terrible rates for actually getting the waifus you want, and then they compete in of a list of... what it is now, a hundred? Two or three? heroes. Limited time only rate-ups, characters that almost never go on rate-up, more SSRs than all the other categories put together now, four or five bait gachas coming out before one they know people are really gonna want so they're more likely to burn cash. A whole bunch of psychological tricks and traps, and on top of that if RNGesus isn't on your side and you don't get that twintail you wanted after that couple hundred quartz you've been saving up for a few months, there's literally no other way to get what you want other than to actually spend money on it. You can't earn them, you can't find them, you can't even trawl through terrible 1x10^-6 drop rates punching monsters to get waifus, or quartz for waifus.

It's not as though people wouldn't be willing to spend money on their waifus- I'll bet a whole lot of people would be more than willing to spend a hundred dollars getting boob monk, a pair of costumes and maybe an extra animation set for her. It's just that they chose a shitty, exploitative system instead of something like, say, Warframe, which you can play for years and get almost every piece of content that exists, all without spending a penny, other than maybe for some annoyingly rare materials or a bunch of costumes for your favourite frame you wanted at one point.
