I totally understand how you feel. A month or two ago, Mizukume, myself, and a few others had a similar back and forth about Indo-Japanese syncretism, which I feel is TM's thinly-veiled excuse to not show Indian/Hindu gods, instead showing Indian mythological weapons and powers through their Japanese counterparts.
Unpopular opinion? Well, because what I see in fandom may be different from what others see, it's kind of hard to be sure what does and doesn't count as unpopular. I guess I'll just list 4 things I think are unpopular:
- I love Gil and Enkidu individually, but as Gilkidu is a pairing I don't care for, the sheer amount of it that basically forced me to blacklist Enkidu's name has made me hope that they both die without their final battle in strange fake.
- references of old masters/companions in bond lines annoys me and I wish they'd avoid doing it completely or at least restrict it to normal dialogue.
- while I prefer female avatars on principal of always picking them, people that like to insist Gudako/Hakunon are better than their male counterparts are ridiculous. Their both bland as shit, the perceived lack of blandness is usually in people's headcanons of how the female characters should act.
- both Nero and Tamamo are inferior to Nameless

I'm more salty about Buddhism syncretism tbh. Thanks Emperor Shomu, and u too Kukai, for your fusion shenanigans.
When smallpox struck Nara, the capital, in 735, the Emperor Shomu’s thoughts turned not to them but to the Buddha. The course of action his piety suggested to him was to order the casting of a giant bronze image of Roshana Buddha. But he hesitated. As Sansom explains, “To erect a great Buddha in the middle of the capital . . . was, on the face of it, a serious blow to the native divinities, unless some means could be found of reconciling (Shinto and Buddhism).” The reconciliation was entrusted to a monk named Gyogi, who journeyed to Ise and for seven days and seven nights prayed at the threshold of the Sun Goddess’ shrine — to good effect, evidently, for in a dream “the Sun Goddess appeared to the emperor as a radiant disc,” writes Sansom, “and proclaimed that the Sun and the Buddha were the same.”

Might be unpopular but...Arjuna and Karna ship >>> Gil and Enkidu ship

Enkidu is fun because most people think he’s the nice gentle uwu pure boi but then it turns out he’s just as cray cray as Gil
For the first point, I dunno. I'm just drawn to him. I find the juxtaposition between his gentle looks and his kind of violent tendencies amusing. And I like his blunt nature as well.
For the second, it's just a personal preference. Since bond lines are 'your reward for using this servant so much' I'd prefer for them to be focused on master and Servant and not extra variables. The dialogue about other people can exist out of it e.g. Rama talks about his wife a lot, but there's not so much as a mention of her in bond lines. You don't restrict it and you get Servants like saber Diarmuid who has, what ? 5 saber references?
