Regarding Jalter's Flanderizaton, I think most GO Servants, sooner or later, find a characterization ceiling they can't break through.

They can't leave the gacha since they can't stop making money. They can't just move on away from Guda and find their own ways in life because they have to keep on being husbandos/waifus for the player avatar, but none may ever monopolize the romantic attention (and even the obvious winner Mash needs to remain in the friendzone for all of eternity). They can't pull lasting Heel Face turns.

So eventually all venues of real, serious character development are lost and the characters only can fall into seemingly eternal ruts of repeating their shtick routines ad nauseam. Cu and EMIYA will always bicker and fight, Vanilla Artie will always be stoic and save herself for this person she's contractually obligated to never mention by name, Jalter will always be the most generic Tsun-Tsun ever, and so on. Literally forever until the thing stops making cash. Like the Pokemon anime but with historical figures.

I mean, other than Mash who's a special case, Servants are, by definition, locked into who they are (or rather, were). They're not supposed to change. All the writers can do is put them under new experiences and thus show us different facets of their personality. Did you think it was a coincidence the vast majority of "Alters" and all the other different versions of the same character first debuted in GO?

Remember the days where Saber was the only "Alter" and that it was a legitimately cool twist that also served to enhance the wtf nature of the story rather than just being some shitty cash grab novelty appearances? Good times.

I don't remember how ignorant you could be about FSN to be interested in it the first place without treading through anime communities that already had Saber plastered everywhere back then. People still didn't give a rat's ass about preserving spoils in favor of posting cute anime girls even during that period I think.

I did got spoiled HF due to someone posting Dark Sakura and Saber Alter CGs, but I thought those are "what if they are evil" fanarts instead of actual things from the VN, so I still got surprised when reading it.

Artoria's identity OTOH, is literally spoiled by the site where I came to download the game.

I'd rather have a character grow up and evolve rather than having 'another version of this very same character just appeared, but now In A Swimsuit!/Costumed For Halloween!/Fused With Another Character, Thus Messing Both Up!'

But then again, the former doesn't sell as much as the latter. Audiences like their comfort zones after all.

It honestly is because Rama at least looks Indian and somewhat human.

I know artistic accuracy was never the goal, but I just think Karna's TM design is just stupid and that a more traditional depiction would have looked way more kickass.

And I grew up on tales of Hercules, but I'll admit Berserkercles is nowhere near an interesting character in FSN.

Fact is, Karna spends most of Apoc standing around with his arms folded, and the rest of the time getting into fights without any resolution. I might be mistaken since I mainly remember the animu, but he doesn't give a single indication of what he wants or his personality before the whole confrontation with their team, and even then just goes "I shall murderise saber of bleh and then murderise the rest of you, for basically no reason whatsoever".

And the whole reason he stood around was pretty indicative of his personality. He had no wishes nor desires of his own, only to serve his Master well and maybe have a good fight, and he has no filter, which was true in source material as well. He also doesn't hold grudges or really ill-will towards anyone. Besides, he quite loudly and clearly tells Shirou prior to confronting the Black Team that he doesn't necessarily care for the Grail or his salvation, only to cross blades with Siegfried because he was a challenge and also because he wanted to show his respect for the fellow warrior's skill.
