I think last episode is fine but Heavens Feel normal hits really hard.
Only Tsukihime got that bittersweet full force, and even there KT basically went and retconned Akiha True. This is ancient history by now.
I just focus on the loli. Everything else is just dressing.
Even Tsukihime itself had a nonsensical copout option to Arc’s ending.
They're just options. Having one ending doesn't mean the other is suddenly invalidated.

I disagree with the memetic groupthink notion that F/GO's story doesn't "get good" (and even then the quality of the EOR chapters is inconsistent, so the story doesn't quite stabilize until Lostbelt) until Camelot, but virtue of E Pluribus Unum's existence.
This opinion is not without its caveats, sure. True, its not as good as the best of its Part 1 chapters--those being Camelot and Babylonia, yes (Salmonella is an entirely different can of worms ;X). It doesn't have many distinctly memorable set-pieces like those best chapters do, but it is driven by solid character interaction that makes up some of the difference. Nightingale viewing war as a disease and needing to be convinced to take to it at the source? Good stuff. Nightingale and Guda's not-a-date being interrupted by zombies? A tender moment of characterization, even if one interfered with by early F/GO's worst habit. Eli being Eli and bouncing off of Nero like the couple of idiots that they are? Good stuff. Rama and Sita's thing? Could've been better built up, but I still felt a tad empty inside as a result. KING PRESIDENT LION THOMAS EDISON and his scheme of mass-production and to Americate the entire world? Probably the most memorable part. Scathach jobbing? Feel sorry for the Scathach fans, but at least its memorable. The general dialogue flow and interactions amongst the cast are--while not their strongest, in comparison to the best chapters--are still solid, brisk, fun. A war story, but an adventurous one.
The chapter's not egregiously bad/dull as some of early-game F/GO can be. It's just got something of a 'middle child syndrome' thing, on top of early F/GO's growing pains.

I agree with you, but I honestly don't get the infatuation FGO writers have with Edison. I very much dislike his theme song and once the initial impact of his appearance passes, he becomes kinda annoying imo. People used to complain about Elisabeth, but I find myself groaning more often when Edison shows up yet again in some other event.
I liked E Pluribus Unum's exploration on that old Fate theme, the nature of power and royalty, through Cú Chulainn Alter. I agree that it's a good chapter, it's just not as good as Babylonia or Camelot, especially the latter.
(Personally, I don't mind Scáthach losing to Cú Chulainn Alter, I just think the whole thing was very poorly executed. "Hi, I'm Scáthach!" *dies in a single screenshot*)
