Could be. Or they could be using CG because it's cheap and fast, and they don't want QUALITY and stillshots (as they lack decent staff to animate 2D group idol dancing properly)
Creating models you aren't gonna reuse in any way is very expensive and practically throwing money away (CG is cheap because of reusing models being cheaper than going with 2D animation in those instances. So, CG is only cheap if the models are reused), which leads me to believe, that this is what we have for actual idol dancing in Zombieland. And there'll be more of it, as that's how CG is made a cheaper option than the alternative.

Gridman ep 3 is not the best, could be executed better. But I noticed this show references a lot of Gridman's American adaption, like the SSSS part stands for Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad and the whole men in black transforming into weapons come from that instead of the original one (and their names), well that's neat.

Apparently all the characters are transformers
This is cool
I feel like these references are building up to something but I don't know enough about any of them to get it
I thought it was supposed to be parodying Love Live, since they seem to be doing a different genre every episode, and time it was anime idols.

Love Live is the only one I've actually watched, so that's where my mind went.

All the "it's a parody, guys" posts look like denial about the show turning into regular idol show (with zombies). As I said, the models will need to be reused. And the drama of this episode wouldn't be out of place in an actual idol show (going by AKB 0048)

actually Zombieland Saga is promotional anime for Saga Prefecture.
If they parodied Love Live, there'd be 2D cuts interspersed among 3D animation.
just got this from Nico2. apparently Rikka and her 2 close friends are based from Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave.
The episode had Sakura about to try to give a speech to cheer everyone up only for Yuugiri to slap her and tell her not to give up, and everyone else going along with it. If that's not idol parody I don't know what is.
Plus this is the same studio that gave us the 2d idol dancing scene in kakegurui as well as a pretty well animated rap battle last episode. If Mappa wanted to make the dancing to look good in that scene they could have.
Or maybe you guys are right, we'll know for sure if there's another idol dance scene.
Mappa can be pretty inconsistent. Yuri on Ice also started good before later episodes of the TV broadcast got hit with QUALITY. They're also doing Banana Fish this season and Sarazanmai (while Ikuhara's thing is not airing, they're still busy with it already given when it will air). While the slap was a good comedy scene, they still had the typical "we won't make it" drama. Not to mention Ai and Junko's scenes.

There is a point when the parody ceases to be and it just becomes the thing it was mocking all along, but that change tends to come very gradually. Medaka Box is always my go to example of it.

When was Medaka Box ever a parody?
I read the whole thing and seriously never figured that out until it ended and someone told me much later. Maybe I’m daft.
