So people who've read the Index novels: Is it supposed to be B'thlem, or is one of the translators an idiot who can't understand Bethlehem?

Price of Smiles: Isn't it pointless to try and praise enemy heroes for propaganda when you're the aggressors? "Maybe this great man would be alive today, if only we didn't decide to murder him and take his stuff out of nowhere." Also there was one shot, when they realize the kid is an orphan, where they tilt their heads but the on in the back keeps her head in the same place and they just tilt her face instead.

I always chuckle when enemies show up in Spec Ops Asuka, since they use American horror movies as classifications, and seeing something called a Voorhees-Class Teddie Bear is hilarious.

Also is Kentarou the most competent non-supernatural person in Boogiepop? He figured that shit out really quick.

Don't think that's really so unusual. After all the Roman Empire valorized a lot of its famous rebels, like Vercingetorix and Zenobia. It works as propaganda because if your enemy was so great and amazing, you must be even greater and more amazing to have defeated them. Not familiar with the series you're discussing, but I'd guess a similar logic applies there.

It was only the last minute of the episode, but it was implied to be aimed at the people they're trying to conquer not their own forces, who are probably pissed at all the friends that died taking him down.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, fairly sure it was Bethlehem in the version I read. But that wasn't exactly... official, shall we say. Usually when errors this obvious show up it's a case of executive meddling (see Altria et al) so maybe it was supposed to be B'thlem all along! Only Kamachibot knows.

Never read the books myself either (but I had heard of both the LN's and the original 2000 anime), but I'm really liking it. It really scratches that early Nasu itch of a bunch of wierdo's with psychic powers in an urban environment, and their non-powered tag alongs who end up being way more competent then you'd expect.
