So I guess the first cour is meant to serve as a substitute for the novels that are not being adapted huh? Not storywise obviously, but to accommodate anime onlys.

Yes, that was the point. And well I mean, he sounds completely different when he's performing as adult Waver, which has him sound more like he normally does, i.e a dark and cool voice. I'm used to him from roles like Benawi in Utawarerumono, Ulquiorra in Bleach, Momoshiki in Boruto etc.

I still think that what they were talking about wasn't half cour original and half cour Rail Zeppelin.
I believe they meant that the first episode will be an original episode with the first half detailing Waver's daily life and the second having a lead up to the arc. And that would be where they introduce Melvin.

I know what humanity reported, but I found his words kind of vague and then went to the reports detailing the AnimeJapan panel and they were also vaguely talking about an original episode. But nowhere said it was half a cour.
Well, I guess it could be, but I would not be surprised if it ends up being just one episode.

Okay, you are right. I also just checked the Animate Times report on the whole panel at AnimeJapan and there clearly says about it being the half of the story.
And I actually want to see new stuff, it just felt weird to me.

How is it crazy? Just make a new story to give context in setting and characters that lead up to the novel's adaptation.
