I'd argue its best to not look at CF as a pure mystery series. I kinda grasped that in Castle Adra, that like it's impossible to solve this with pure logic. My advice is to watch things unravel, but don't hurt your head thinking too hard over who the culprit is.

They actually gave enough clues here to be able to get who the culprit is.

Did they really? I should go back and rewatch it...because I mean I know if I hadn't been spoiled I wouldn't have ever guessed this.

It's like Waver keeps saying, he focuses on why instead of who or how. But also yokushi is right about this case providing enough clues for who from the Luvia and Kairi stuff.

With the info they gave in the original anime scenes and everything said in this episode, yeah it's perfectly possible to assume the whodunnit.

I mean I knew it'd be Faker's Master, but was there anything indicating that Faker's Master was disguised as Caules?

    Spoiler:
Not really, they should have pointed that Caules was too good at using the Panacea and healing Waver.

True they did that, but I feel it's too small of a hint.

Now that I think it, given how crazy Chapter 5 is we should pray for Troyca to actually use their good staff and budget in the next episode. Also no OP or ED.

Wait that's what happened? I thought Adashino was doing something to him as a distraction. Okay yeah they could have done better there.

See, I actually liked the reveal, in theory, but it didn't have like.....the umph of all the pieces finally coming together because like they didn't foreshadow enough there.

Also it implies Waver basically trapped him, which is SUPER cool. I'm excited to hear Waver's reasoning but yeah, I wish there were more hints.

Because it makes no sense out of context

That sounds like a great time to say absolutely nothing about that thing, then. Except in PM's, idk.

Arkada was dissapointed because expecting mystery series. Well I would do too if I expected that, thanks that I read a bit of light novel first, so I know it's more about explaining how things work.

Blindingly jump in with wrong expectation is always not good guys

Is it a blind assumption though? The first real, non-setup, episode is full of Waver and Grey parroting mystery novel terminology at one another. The only reason I guessed the outcome of both the anime only mystery parts was because I have knowledge of Tsukihime and the DAA's, so I know that Mages will do stupid things for the shot at immortality so they can research forever. If Waver wasn't constantly spouting detective tropes then maybe the show could be taken as more of a study on what mage society is like.

They made pretty clear from the start that who and how are irrelevant when mages are involved. When a show does that from the get go expecting a proper mystery is kind of silly.
