It would be weird if they didn't adapt the rest of the volumes though, considering that would leave a whole bunch of loose ends
Unlike other adaptations of LN and manga, which always wrap things up neatly and never end with an implied message of "buy the manga"

I didn't think Faker appeared so early. I expected her to be the big cliffhanger reveal at the end of volume 4.
Same, I was pretty surprised. Then again the anime is adapting two novels in 6 episodes so maybe the passage of time is different
She is not the end cliffhanger. She shows up at the end of chapter 3 (of 4) so the pacing is right.

This was definitely my favorite episode so far. I could feel the tension the entire way through, and Hephaestion was very threatening.

It's something explained in the first volume, but basically the Edelfelt are known as "the most elegant hyenas in the world" because they are all about showing up at the precise time and pillaging all the magical knowledge.
