Well it doesn't exist in the new games and only exists as part of showdown meta thanks to reverse compatibility, and that's out of the window, so you can say goodbye to this gameplay-complexity enhancing tool just like a few hundred other ones.

I mean, maybe they'll bring some of those back, but since 'nobody wants battle frontier' I'm very doubtful they care. /ss/ meta is going to be about as fresh as first gen.

Does nature matter much in competitive game?

Quite a bit, especially speed nature when it's relevant. You actively think about the enemy's EVs and whole stats rather than nature, but nature is an important part of it. Aside of a way to maximize stats, it also presents a way to minimize stats for something like gyro ball or making the mon hit itself in confusion as softly as possible.

I usually settle with neutral since looking for pokemon with the right nature is very hard

Its a 40BP Normal physical attack of the mon to itself, so if you're going to use a move that confuses you, low atk and high def helps. Meanwhile, Outrage is physical, so you have to consider that the mon will already be high attack and the confusion will be more dangerous. This is also the point of Swagger: It doubles your attack and confuses you, so you hit yourself harder.

There's a certain baseline at 100 base speed, which a lot of midrange pokemon happen to have. Speed nature on an average speed mon is pretty big deal, since it dictates whether you go first or not against another mon that's not explicitly slow and fast, like with two starters going up against each other.

It's kind of pointless trying to craft the perfect pokemon in the actual game though imo, Showdown's hypermeta is its own world.

Oooh ok thnks. You mean it's useless in the game story but important when you want to go toe to toe with other players?

Pretty much, pokemon games are really easy unless you're doing a nuzlocke, or the game has a proper postgame up to lvl 100 like Emerald or HGSS, and even in the latter case you should be fine with your favourites.

The lack of official Gen 8 models and coding MIGHT affect Showdown in some way, and outside Showdown, there will definitely be an effect.

I'm pretty sure RNG manipulation is how most pros do it these days.

The meta's gonna be a complete clusterfuck if they omit some powerful pokes that check other powerful pokes that are left in. I can't really predict what'll come, but it could be more drastic than the change from gen 5 to gen 6 competitive.

ORAS is fire. Pretty sure the Gen 6 ORAS meta is alive somewhere. After all, people still play Gen 1-3 meta, so of course people still play Gen 6.

Are there still pokemon that I need to trade before they can evolve like Graveler to Golem, Machoke to Machamp, Kadabra to Alakazam or I only need levelling them now?
I want to trade with Alpha Saphire pokemon. I just getting started though so....

It won't. That being said, I think Smogon/Showdown will be more drastically affected than VGC with the loss of the National Dex, since VGC usually has to deal with no National Dex in the first year of a new gen. That being said, it will be increasingly hard to breed desirable egg moves among other things.

Btw why the hell is ORAS so fucking easy.... Emerald was much harder. Brawley has lv19 Makuhita, Roxanne has lv16 nosepass, Walter has lv 26(?) Manetric back in emerald. Now I can just solo the entire gym with one pokemon
