OK, let me try to break it down for you like this.

    己の誠を通さんとする

    v

    己の誠を通そうとする

    v

    己の誠を通そうと戦う

    v

    己の誠を通そうと時と戦う

    v

    己の誠を通そうと時と戦い続ける

I'll offer a translation if you want but maybe this will help you learn

Ok so uh the way i understand it

Volitional verb + とする means "to try to do verb", right

So volverb + と戦う would be "to fight in doing the verb"?

So would this be "continue fighting in persisting his fidelity?" And then added with "continue figgting against the era?"

yes. To preserve that intent one might word it as, "he continues to battle the times in order to uphold his integrity."

So... please don't take this the wrong way, but this is pretty basic grammar and I'm a little concerned if this involves translation for public consumption.

I was in a similar position before, being called out in a major way on all the mistakes I was making, and I decided to take a break from fan translation and focus on studying until I was in a better position to be writing things for other people to read. It was a good choice because a few years later I was able to present my best foot forward and get hired younger than most people in my industry usually do. If I'd been at the point I was when I decided to take a step back, I probably would not have made it very far.

I'm not telling you to do anything either way, just relating my experience. The latter part isn't relevant to fan translation anyway.

The international Type-Moon fandom being what it is, translations are hard to come by so I know there's always a big demand for any text at all... for better or worse. We do it because we want to help, not because we're contracted to publish something to market. Good luck with your studies.

So, there's a want of mine to create a glossary or perhaps even a large dictionary of Servant skills, abilities, Noble Phantoms, so on and so forth for the Create-a-Servant thread.

While I've been meaning to scour this sub-forum and other sources (even the original Japanese text if so be it), would anyone be willing to double check my work? Like, I dunno, 狂化 and its description -- things like that.

Is there a discord server where people could easily ask each other questions about translations? I think it's much more convenient than forums since people could notice the question immediately

need a second opinion on this passage from near the end of Paradox Spiral.

unsure whether i have correctly grasped the meaning in these lines. the expression 覚悟の上 I can't seem to figure out

"Looking back, there was no way there would be anything like a church. There was only an empty horizon, flat like a desert.
Nothing remains. But that was what I expected.
Nothing being left behind...that's just how life works, I thought.
But I'm sure there's someone who would say people should do what they can to leave nothing behind in this life."

There's my stab at it. I feel like I'm missing the greater context of this part so it's hard to judge the subject, so take that with a grain of salt.

There's nothing I would say looks incorrect in your translation. I interpret 覚悟の上 as being like "more than prepared for," or "well within the realm of things [I am] prepared to face."

    ふと、途中で靴磨きの道具を忘れていることを思い出したのだ。道具自体は時計塔にもスラーにも置いてあるのだが、たまには道具自体の手入れもしなければならない。幸い、こちらの私室もスラーと同様、奥と手前で切り分けられており、廊下に面している方の合い鍵は持たされていたので、自由に出入りす ることができた。
I'm a bit confused here by the word スラー. All dictionaries I look at only give me "slur" (as in, the musical term) as a definition, but that obviously is not how it's being used here. From the context, I'm thinking it's referring to some sort of closet or storage space, or maybe a kind of room, but if anyone has any insight as to what specifically that word is referring to, I'd love to hear it.

I found a gba rom for Kagetsu Tohya and Tsukihime, Kagetsu works pretty nicely with a gba emulator but Tsukihime freezes. I kinda wanna see someone putting the english translation of Kagetsu on the gba rom for funsies. Like, would it be hard to take the translated script from the pc version and put it on the gba rom of Kagetsu Tohya?
here's the link for the roms:
