Mana doesn't force the door open, the spiritual presence of the Servants do.

Okay, but the reservoir drawing in mana from the Fuyuki leyline to fuel the summoning of the Servants and the granting of wishes is an imaginary space, right?
I don't think those are one in the same thing. True of the Servant summoning mana, yes, CM3 says what isn't used goes into storage. The mana for wish-granting is a separate thing, existing on the "other side" on the pathway to the Root that the grail is meant to open up.

That actually helps me out. Since Hild comes from outside the Nasuverse, it could be said she passed through the Root on the way in, unwittingly so mind you. Given that during the Third Grail War the Grail couldn't be summoned, it's likely the way to the Root briefly opened when all the Servants were defeated, leaving Angra Mainyu stuck inside the imaginary space on the other side of the door. Until Hild came along and kicked him out of his haunt.
Does it make more sense expolained that way?
Angra isn't stuck. Angra isn't even a person. He's a curse.

Maybe I should have said that 'Avenger' got stuck, because if he had returned to the Throne with the other six Fate/Zero would have been completely different. I agree with you on the true nature of Angra Mainyu.
I don't think you quite understand. Nobody got "stuck" in the way you're thinking. Avenger is just some poor sod that got caught up in the HGW, got defeated early on, and the weird circumstances surrounding him painted the grail black in his curse. That curse later on gets personified, tries to get born into the world, but it isn't some guy hanging around in a huge cup stuck because he can't reach the lip to pull himself out.

Does that mean I have to delete the scene with Avenger blowing up along with Hild's old universe? If Avenger didn't get stuck, Hild couldn't swap places with him and in turn that scene doesn't make sense anymore.
I dunno, I'm just saying that it's not like there's some kind of occupancy space in the grail that Avenger inhabits. I'm not joking when I said that it's like the ritual itself is stained in his gunk. That stain just happens to be trying to evolve into more than primordial mud.

In that case I have to either restart the fiction from scratch or invoke the Kaleidoscope (the Second Magic, not Zelretch in person).
Not dealing with it...
Why even try?
This is golden...
