The funny thing is Kawahara's apparently stopped with the rape in his most recent works he's written (like Accel World). The thing is the SAO stuff that's being adapted currently was written years ago. Similarly, I don't remember much rape happening in modern Nasu works.

Less not that great (aside from a few choice words readers have against Climb's focus novel) and more that the author keeps cutting off the number of novels he wants to write which with all the plot points left has people worried it won't have a satisfying end, especially as there still has yet to be an actual challenge for the main characters.
Accel World vol 1 had Kuroyukihime in a coma, and iirc 3 and 4 had what pretty much amounts to PG NTR with Chiyuri.
Though other than that, Accel World was always the superior setting and better story, always makes me sad SAO caught on that much over it (though as discussed I was never on the rabid SAO hating bandwagon).
