I picked that up on a whim a while ago. Saw it in a bookshop and remembered Ness' Chaos Walking trilogy, which was also excellent. I think it was around the time Class was coming out, too. Really wish that'd got a second series; Ness is a seriously good writer.

The Glowworm pseudo-prologue chapters are done, and Worm 2 (now officially titled Ward) officially had its first chapter released last night. Tbh, I think this first chapter was much stronger than any of the Glowworm stuff and the choice of protagonist is interesting to say the least.

It's a short story, not a larger work or anything, but I just read Leutnant Gustl by Arthur Schnitzler and really enjoyed it. It's very psychological in a particularly empathetic way, and even if it's stream-of-consciousness to the point of being riddled with ellipses and half-complete sentences, I thought it was great. It's an interesting mix of messed up, funny, and relatable.

    Very

    ASOIAF length, all books

Pact is about half that, Twig is somewhere in between

The length is (understandably) a turn-off for some people but it’s genuinely worth a read, imo anyway

Just remember to wear proper gloves when you read it, or else you may cut yourself on all the edge.

I actually dont feel much of the edge. Tho i do felt some parts are kinda cheesy, and the action left much to be desired. On 7th book now.

    The plot's damn engaging tho.

i dunno if its 7 books worth, the chapters were like 7.1, 7.2, and its a web novel format, so dunno how many pages would the word count fill

    They’re called arcs, usually

they tend to vary in length but generally get longer as it goes on

Tomorrow is the Oathbringer release day!

However I won't get it for a week because, apparently, the Amazon shipping method to my country is "by donkey".

    Oh well. Have some Heralds.

I have returned from my weekly trip to civilisation with a couple of new books to read.

The first is "Homage to Catalonia" (very timely title) by George Orwell. I must admit that I didn't care for either 1984 nor Animal Farm. But still, I'm gonna give Orwell one more go.

The other book was "Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage" by Haruki Murakami. I've read most of Murakami's oeuvre and yet I still don't quite know what to think of him as a writer. Regardless, his books are interesting if nothing else.

    finished Oathbringer

that was both exhilarating and satisfying of a read.

Especially the last part battle. I practically had a high budget, CGI action packed movie going on in my brain while reading it.

I'm having a hard time reading Oathbringer for an unexpected reason.

I keep translating "storm" into "fuck" in my head.
