It just struck me, but if you read and liked the Dresden Files, have you checked out Codex Alera yet? It's another series by the same author which cleaves closer to high fantasy. It's up to six books, if I recall correctly, already concluded.

That reminds me of a great series that's supposed to be 7 books, has three out so far. The Gentleman Batsards. It's basically about a group of thieves in a low fantasy world. Oceans Eleven through the lens of Game of Thrones. Every book takes place in different city state since they have to GTFO after they finish the heist the book centers around. The first book is The Lies of Locke Lamora.

I mean, Dragonlance literally started life as a (liberally railroaded, but that was closer to the norm with AD&D adventures) D&D campaign Hickman and Weiss co-DM'ed. It wasn't really supposed to have a plot to begin with, and it's a minor miracle they got as far as they did from such a start.

Another Fantasy series with a huge library is Redwall. Well, sort of fantasy. There's no magic but huge fate and destiny stuff. And all the characters are small woodland creatures. It's pretty much all standalone stories, that jump all around the timeline.

Fair warning though, I have yet to see a good RPG-based novel. I've read good RPG-based short stories, but no novels.

It's pretty good for what it is, which is basically a timewaster. As far as action movies go, it would be like Mission Impossible (where it had a good idea and kept stringing it along until it croaked).

Also, I legit had no idea there existed MTG books before the recent ones. I should check them out someday (especially since the Urza saga in the card game took place when I was in like, middle school).

I don't recommend "Arena". The prose is better than Salvatore's or Greenwood's - though it still falls on the side of average -, but the plot is extremely formulaic.
Gravity's Rainbow.
Finished the The Sea of Fertility tetralogy. While the first two books were amazing, I feel like the last two (especially Temple of Dawn) had so much Buddhist ramblings they became hard to follow at times. But they were still enjoyable.
The last novel being finished on the day he went off to kill himself certainly adds an extra layer to the ending. There's no doubt in my mind that his attempted coup was just a means to achieve his suicide, but I feel like doing such a thing argues against what was being said in his last novel. It's a shame we'll never know what he was actually thinking.
