That's actually a good question. I loev me some GAR, and of course archer is the source of the term itself, but wtf are BAR? Is it Bi?
Surely you mean Herakles summoned as archer.
It refers to the literal high jump bar that Shirou was trying to jump over after school. The event was witnessed by Rin and Sakura and caused them to irrevocably lust after Shirou ever since.
BAR is basically Shirou's version of the Tohno Gland, referencing the fact that two out of three heroines loved Shirou because they saw him fail to jump over a bar.

If its from the VN then why is it only surfacing now? When GAR has been used all over the place for years now.
And yeah I dont know the VN scene for scene. I've read/played all the related materials, and plot summaries of all the routes of the games but i cannot stand the format of a VN.
If I had anything in my mouth when I read this, I would have literally done a spit take.

It prolly has a lot to do with Kaleid Liner having a omake dedicated to the scene. Compared to something that was prolly only mentioned in passing in the VN- which I clearly don't remember.

Yeah, in the VN there's only a couple of lines related to the "pole event", and having the visual from Kaleid-Linear was great to have. (And it also gave a reason for Luvia to like Shirou as well, definite win.)

BAR is Shirou's version of Tohno Gland. The reason Sakura and Rin fell in love with him is basically the existence of BAR.
Too many other memes, along with the fact that most people had only watched (mediocre compared to the VN) the anime, and hadn't had any chance to see BAR at work.
I'm still trying to figure out if she's actually pregnant, planning ahead, or just has that particular kink. If she is, though- and looking at some of the things Kieran's said, I wouldn't be surprised- that's one hell of a way to tell him...
I wonder what Iri's and Kiritsugu's reactions will be? Or Touko's, for that matter...
