Modern event next week. What deck should I play this time?

On one hand, I want to try Lantern again, on the other I want to try out some crazy brew, like, something sweet with As Foretold and Wheel of Fate. Storm? Reanimator? And then there's this voice in the back of my head saying "JUST JUND THEM OUUUT"

His side-boarding choices tilt me. Keep single-target removal over Wraths against Death's Shadow. Bring in RiP against Mill, especially when you've seen Crypt Incursion maindeck. The deck may be new, but these SB interactions really aren't.

Well, that deck is pretty much WB tokens with a different top end, so it's not even a real new deck.
I gueeeess it could be some pretty dubious anti Souls tech? He had Souls of his own though, potentially bigger Souls at that - not sure why Souls would bother him much.
Probably just an oversight / sloppiness. The guy does play pretty fast and sloppy in most of his videos.

I think you're playing too many underpowered cards in order to turn on your synergies.

The deck seems too slow to win the short game and too small to win the long game.

Finally, it seems you have very little interaction against creature-light decks. The thing with -1/-1 counter decks is that you depend on the opponent to provide targets.

Also, you're playing Attune with Aether without any energy synergies - you'd be better off playing Traverse the Ulvenwald or maybe just more lands.

I'm unsure of how to rebuild the deck - if pressed, I'd say I'd build a Jund midrange deck with Noose Constrictor/Olivia's Dragoon, some removal, some discard, a bunch of Madness/Aftermath/Embalm (the green Hydra) Cards, probably Key to the City, and with Archfiend of Ifnir and Glorybringer (as a concession to Gideons) topping the curve.

Or just Jund aggro/madness with more aggressive creatures and burn spells (Maindeck Fiery Temper, Shock, Cut/Ribbons). Something similar to this but with Noose Constrictor, Soul-Scar, Shock instead of key to the city, scrounger, unlicensed disintegration (actually just BR splashing for the snake).

Sideboards weren't very kind to me - I got Kataki'd twice, Chalice'd once and Shatterstormed a fourth time.

Well of course, that's the one that hurts.

I had six proactive and three reactive ways to deal with it, but I got titan'd before that. Should have opened with stirrings to dig for a bridge, which rarely is the best play but turned out to be this time.

Well, not Mardu Vehicles as a deck archetype. The BG deck has 3 Heart of Kiran mainboard and 1 in SB.
Fennel's SB has 4 Gideons.

Given the metagame we saw, I'm tempted to go Black-Green Energy.
Though I still really, really, REALLY want to use Rhonas and Serpopard in the same deck. GW cats is too gimmicky and I don't have confidence in trying GW Thalia's Lancers now... :/
