You know I'm totally in for the custom card creation.

Clearly the correct answer is that each of us get a custom Planeswalker card and we have to build a flavor deck around it for the next tournament.

Edit: I was partially joking but this is actually easy to do on the cockatrice side of things; takes like a minute. If people are interested, I'd be up for it.

For balancing we can just have someone the participants who aren't the one concerned make the card based on their impression of the player's personality/play style.

In which I dig frantically:

End of turn, activate SDT, finding another Top in the three. Put it on top.
Draw Top 2.
Activate Top 1 again: my new card is a Windswept Heath. Put it on top.
Use Top 1 to draw Heath.
Play Heath and crack for a shuffle.
Play Top 2.
Activate Top 2, finding a GSZ to put on top.
Use Top 2 to draw GSZ.
GSZ for my answer.

It's good that Cockatrice shuffles automatically.

But yeah mAc and I are onboard for this silly thing so consider it an official proposition. I can take care of making the xml file and the cards templating.

I figure for the planeswalkers, each participant will be randomly assigned another player and will make their 'walker card, and then the others (excluding the concerned player) can judge it for balance and stuff.

What format?

I propose we do it this way:

1. Each one chooses the card name, art, the exact mana cost they want to have, and the kind of deck they want to build around it. They may make general suggestions about the abilities (e.g. "some sort of card advantage as a plus ability", "noncreature hosing", etc).
2. Someone else does the loyalty abilities/starting loyalty based on that.
3. When all are done, we try to balance the power levels.

It's better than someone else doing it blindly IMO.

Bear with me, I'm super busy this week. I do know what my deck's going to be now; I just have to put the list together. The earliest I'll have time to make the deck is Thursday.

Also I like Siriel's idea. I think it's more fun if the person involved has no say in it because then you get to see what other people make out of it.

Won 2-0 against Lyco, some misplays on my part due to not really being used to the deck, and I think the 2nd game was a case of both me and Lyco drawing just a bunch of answers with nothing to play, but it was great fun. I think this was the first matchup where a lot of creatures actually got removed from play for me.

Managed to beat Lyco again, this time with no funny business. Blood Moon played a pretty big role again, although it almost got me killed.

I'm now 3rd under Nihilm and Seika, my dreams and hopes vanish into nothingness *pretentious vampire pose*

Got mana screwed in game 2 against Nihilm, while in the make-up match against aldeayeah I *shouldn't* have destroyed Blood Moon.
legacy is a confusing, difficult challenge

I'm not sure there. Ideally it would be Legacy just to allow maximum flavor, but then again with the Legacy banlist it might be tempting to go more for power than flavor.

Hmm, how about make the format EDH and make the planeswalker your general. That sort of removes a lot of the temptation to go for power over flavour, while keeping options open, also makes you want to build around your PW.

Your ideas sound fun, and I hate playing the spoiler, so I'll just opt out. I was envisioning something pretty different with more POWERRRR and existing archetypes, and less flavor/brewing.

I'll devote myself to making the commemorative cards for the Legacy event instead :P

Or actually, if you're OK, I can make the cards (the actual players having the final word) and not play. I love making cards, as most of you know.
