To me, what makes it awkward is that Jace is blatantly not the same character that planeswalked out of Ixalan.

Also, even though he's perfectly justified, ghosting Liliana like that was pretty cold of him.

The first few Dominaria stories were pretty good IMO, but then the pacing went out of whack.

Some of the most recent ones feel like "story point whack-a-mole" to me.

I've found myself missing the young fiction, shounen-manga style of Ixalan story*, which is pretty disappointing considering Wizards are actually hiring pro writers now.

* Well, not the Huatli parts. Those were baaaaad.

It turned out I didn't have Kiln Fiends or Mutagenic Growths, so I ended up taking good old Affinity to the event.

Round 1: vs Death & Taxes (win 2-0).
He has slowish hands, I have T1 Overseer on the play and T1 Cranial on the draw.

Round 2: vs Ramunap Burn (win 2-1).
Split the first two games, stick a T2 Ghirapur Aether Grid in the third and ride it to the win.

Win a fast first game, got Kataki'd on the second, punted horribly in the third and got comboed out by Devoted Druid.

Ramp has been costed at 3cmc for a while now in Standard legal sets, yeah.

Meanwhile, BBD spoilers are all out and I have a mighty need to get a copy of Archon of Valor's Reach.

What exactly happened that we have viable 2cmc counterspells and reliable 2cmc removal but BASIC ramp has to be costed at 3?

There are 2 CMC ramp spells in Standard but they make you jump through some hoops (Thunderherd Migration)

Also, Llanowar Elves (DOM) is the first CMC 1 dork in Standard since Elvish Mystic (M15) rotated out with the release of Battle for Zendikar.

According to WotC, making ramp less efficient lets them make stronger three- and four-drops that don't break Standard (?).

It seems the DOM Standard metagame has been solved, best deck being mono-red aggressive midrange splashing black for anti-control cards.

Also, there are now best-of-3 events.

Also, everyone gets playsets of a bunch of KLD block staples including Chandra, HoK, Courier, Fumigate, Ballista, THulk, etc, plus two of each common/uncommon, plus one of each rare/mythic.
