I don't think I've ever logged into Arena without tweaking at least one of my decks a bit.

You'll probably have to simply because otherwise you can tweak your deck to work better vs whatever your opponents is.

But unlike a real tournament there's no way to know what deck my opponent is using before the match.
Although I guess if you were thinking BO3 using Direct Challenge, then yeah, I guess that could be a problem.

You could know based on people commenting on the game in the thread for example. IE someone mentioning a specific card that was key to the game etc. Also yeah I would prefer a bo3 format.

So, now that they're all out, what are your thoughts about the Allegiance keywords? Really curious about how Addendum is going to affect play, personally. It seems to be moving UW away from control, or at least Teferi, and that can't be a bad thing, but control has always been kind of an Azorius thing.

Given that it only appears on instants, Addendum is naturally friendly to draw-go control. I'd be surprised if Teferi didn't get some new toy from Azorius (other than Hallowed Fountain.)

On the other hand, I think this card can be borderline broken in a controlling Bant/4c flash deck, in an "untap with it = effectively win the game" fashion.

It basically lets you play both tap out and draw go control at the same time, while savagely ramping your instant speed effects.

For example, if you untap with this on turn 5, with no further ramp, you can play BOTH Teferi and Nexus of Fate in that turn.

Only needed a few rare and uncommon crafts so I completed a golgari midrange.

I have Golgari, Drakes (non-Arclight), Mono Blue and Mono Red as far as tier decks go. Also a bunch of stockpiled wildcards.

Are you guys playing the prerelease? If so, which guild? I'm thinking Azorius or Simic. Simic lures me with the promise of 4c/5c bombs (but that requires opening a few copies of Open the Gates / Gateway Plaza), while Azorius just seems solid all around be it alone, Esper or Bant. Then there's the possibility of Mardu removal tribal or Gruul/Temur/Jund midrange I guess, but I don't find those all that appealing.

I'm going to a prerelease event this weekend for my first paper experience Sealed format. As for Arena, I'm curious what an Azorius deck will play like, though with my current cardbase I'm probably oriented towards Gruul. The boosters will tell, I guess.

I finally picked Azorius. I know I'm setting myself up to be Gruul'd. I don't care. FOR VALUE!

I opened thirteen boosters (as many as my saved up gold would allow), realised I don't have enough cards to make any new decks and went back to my old ones.
Highlight of the whole deal woulc probably be opening the Orzhov Planeswalker, getting excited spending fifteen minutes trying to build around her, only to realise I was just making a worse version of my already bad BW deck.

Any ideas or suggestions about Draft? So far all I've seen of the new format is Rakdos variations on Red Aggro (and they are, admittedly, pretty brutal).

Prerelease: Ended up 2-2 with Esper Big Butts + Fliers with High Alert and Ethereal Absolution (we jokingly called it Esper Memes/Esper Bad Stuff).

Got a pretty meh pool, no bombs except the Absolution and no inconditional removal whatsoever. Great mana, though (4 on-color gates + Godless Shrine).

I also drew like 7 cards with the guys that become unblockable with Gates in a single game.

There was one guy who actually built the mill deck to some success, too.

Nice pulls: one Vannifar, one shockland.

NO MORE ORZHOV FLIERS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I got a painful lesson on how much I suck at Drafting this time around, damn. Not enough fliers, only one bomb, barely any removal, bunch of cards that would work better in other decks, and no sideboard to speak of.

Still, it was a good one. Gonna go to the paper pre-release Sealed tomorrow, let's see if I do better when I don't get to choose what cards I get ( probably not).

I didn't attend the pre-release - I was moving on the weekend, and could've maybe worked it in but I was just too tired. NGL, the pre-release MTG arena code going from a sealed event to a draft also turned me off a bit.

My current 'main' decks right now are Jeskai Control, Grixis Control, Dimir Control, Izzet Drakes (no Arclights, though I did pull my first yesterday), Golgari Mid, RDW and my janky RG Dinos. I'm considering going full Naya dinos since I pulled all the GW shocks from boosters.
