Eh it's no vampire hexmage

Hexmage is more maindeckable but I really just want a PW hoser and this is it.

Every set they introduce a theme, they also introduce ways to beat that theme.
He never sleeps. He never dies.
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
Well, or they don't and you end up with shit like Delve or Ravager. The strength of the hosers needs to match up. PW removal is notoriously bad unless its general (nonland) permanent removal to force creatures as the main way of interacting with them.
which is bad design

At BB cost though I'm afraid that pushes Black as a neccesary secondary in nearly every colour, unless we actually get similarly powerful removal in other colors. It's just expensive enough that you can't splash for it.

Once and always and nevermore.
U can counter them for 2 cmc (hard, soft counter is already at 1 lul) and used to be the most mana efficient way of dealing with PWs, this just adds black as the second option. It creates more choice not less.
Post rotation its a different story but having BB T3 rn is easily doable for Grixis and Esper. Jeskai is already just kind of a meme now anyway, and Temur deals with PWs by countering them. Aggressive decks can't play this card no matter what it costs.

WAR available in Arena, time to use the stockpiled 12k gems from drafts to grind Sealed for a while (May 20, or when gems run out...)

Whew, it's out already? I missed the memo completely... then again, I lowkey stopped playing ever since Allegiance dropped, only occasionally logging in to play a match or two.
Meanwhile, the HS maniac buddy I introduced to Arena has sworn off HS and is (apparently) now an Arena maniac. I'm suddenly glad about the complete lack of friend features, I'm afraid he'll stomp me to the ground if we match again...

Did sealed for the first time, and tried Sultai due to getting Command the Dreadhorde, Casualties of War, and Enter the God-Eternals. Lost my first two games. Won the next seven. What a rush
Casualties of War was great value with so many Planeswalkies running around, I was hitting three targets every time. And Enter the God-Eternals was great for setting up Dreadhorde - life gain, remove a creature I can then snatch, and mill 4 just in case I hit something good. I often found myself taking 10+ damage just to set up an overwhelming board and it felt amazing.
I'm 6-1 in my first sealed with BGw with a heavy proliferate component + Ajani and assorted bombs (planewide celebration, awakening of vhitu-ghazi, the landfall proliferate guy...)
The format is pretty absurd.

It seems a new glass cannon combo deck is making some waves in Modern, one that takes advantage of both the London Mulligan and the new WAR cards.
The combo involves getting down for free an Allosaurus Rider (either naturally drawn or via Summoner's Pact), then using Neoform or Eldritch Evolution to turn it into a Griselbrand.
From that point on, it's pretty much the same as Grishoalbrand (draw your deck while gaining life with Nourishing Shoal, then kill with whatever)
It uses SSG and Chancellor of the Tangle as fast mana for consistent T2 kills (sometimes T1).
It kinda folds to Thoughtseize, but is impervious to most other common early interaction that's not discard or counterspells (the opponent doesn't have a window to remove anything until Griselbrand is already in play, and at that point you can just go off at instant speed in response to the removal)
Also, you don't need to go for the full combo - you can just take it easy and beat down with an early Griselbrand.

Downloading the WAR patch somehow ended up deleting MTGA from my computer, so I took it as a sign from the Heavens to take a break. (Well, that or play mono Black from now on, I guess).

WAR Sealed is being kind to me - after 4 of them, I'm somehow left with more gems than I initially had.
I always seem to do better in the slower limited formats (probably means there's some kind of bias in the way I build limited decks?)

Just got owned by Raphael Levy in DOM draft, lol
i mean, that was a pretty sketchy keep, but failing to hit a third land twice in a row hurt

These new cards. It's like they're trying to bait me into buying more cards.

I mean, as long as I found the third land, I could fetch an Island with the Surveyor. That was the reasoning. The thing is, that happened on the fifth turn in the draw, and by that time I was at 10 life and facing 9 power on the board.
i also could have drawn one of my 11 islands orz
