SMT/Persona: General Discussion (P4 Arena, P4 Golden, P5, SMT: IV, Etc.)

I have played both Digital Devil Sagas, Persona 3 FES & 4, Devil Survivor, Strange Journey, and SMT Imagine.

Hooray~ Too bad I lack a PSP.

Give it a little while and the new 3D PSP (whatever its name is) will drive down the price of PSPs, though to be honest I'm a bit irritated at the PSP. There are only four or five games I actually want to play on it and of those it's only Birth by Sleep and Persona that made the cost of the PSP worth it*.

*Compared to the PS2 which has several dozen games I want to play on it and would have even been worth the initial price.

Oh, and if I wanted to use a PSX emulator for games, it'd be P1, P2 and Soul Hackers only. But I'll hold for a bit until I get a new controller to use on my USB converter. Which one are you using, Erkonig?

There are a few problems with (soloing) the story progression mode (the fact to be able to do some things make going through parts of it necessary could be called one of them, depending), just make sure to group up to avoid most of them. Other than that, I give it a passing grade. It can be a bit clunky at times though, depending on how you have the controls set up. But I am a gunner, so I suffer from it some of the worst.

Edit: Oh, yeah! Negotiating with demons can seem kinda random at times...but perseverance is your best friend!

Having the talk and bribe skills can really help out, in particular once you start using gemstones and magic crystals. You need to increase it, though.

In the older SMT games, you needed at least buffs, special bullets and some magic to thrive against bosses, though in SMT 2, Makajama really helps against some of them since they basically have their magic sealed and thus they become rather harmless.

I'll be waiting for the day someone translates Devil Summoner 1.

You need buffs in pretty much ever Atlus game. That's part of the fun.

As for IMAGINE, exactly how do you negotiate? I tried playing it but got killed twice trying to figure out how and gave up after that.

The first time is always the most painful. It gets easier as you gain levels. You just talk to them allot at first. Be nice. It took me a while to figure out that there is no (near) sure-fire way of winning a demon over. No matter what you will fail many times.

Remember that if you're not on a certain level threshold, the demons will flat out reject you or attack you. Be careful.

I just remember getting really damn bored on IMAGINE.....then the group who played with me got lazy and stopped playing.....so we just quit. :/

I try not to be too hard on IMAGINE because, quite honestly, every MMORPG I've been convinced to play always got that result.

I think I'd just re-download it again only to get Nekomata.....and grind enough so I can fuse an Ose, too.

As a MMORPG, I enjoyed Imagine longer than any other. As a SMT game, however, it's pretty weak. It's got the common elements of negotiating, contracting, and fusing demons and whatnot. But, well, negotiating is both a hassle and a bore. Actually that kinda sums up my feelings on everything in that game. A hassle and a bore. Like I said, though, I enjoyed it more than any other MMORPG I have played.

and i already uninstalled IMAGINE since it made my antivirus scan through all of it resulting in the antivirus taking so long to finish scanning. and I like the Persona series better. i wont have time for IMAGINE.
