Even with the bonus Messiah's (dlc perk) Megidolaon it only did 12 damage.

Toby's right, It'll be better if you find out on your own. Just make sure to hunt it down when it's flu season, and give it a shot. But if you do, you'll get a shit ton of XP. Grinding them out a few times let me finish the game at lvl 97.

In the end that was a pretty easy palace.
The only place of true challenge was the House of Darkness.

Got 17 days until sending the calling card, which will include the first day of Flu Season.
I'll jump back in at that time and have my rematch with the Reaper then.

During the flu season, when fighting the reaper, if anything uh...interesting should happen in the reaper fight, I imagine you will notice fairly quickly. If you don’t spot anything you might have to run and re engage a few times

Not a bug, it's a feature. There's a reason that stuff only shows up a few times before the endgame begins.

I was doing it wrong.
I kinda neglected raising my Social Link with Shogi girl (a man has his priorities you know, like his homeroom sensei, or maxing out his Charm stat for the student council prez) so I was going into the battles without 100% escape success rate.

I actually managed to escape at first try quite often... though there was one time I did die. Thankfully it didn't take too many tries after that.

I won't mind cheesing the Reaper if this is expected player behavior. But I'll limit it to once per day of Flu Season.

Just beat Shido. Advanced a few dats until I hit Flu Season.

I guess now it's time to just focus on Mementos.
Is there a recommended level for the depths of Mementos? More specifically the very final boss? I don't want to have to grind too much while down there, but I don't think my party is really ready for this fight and I've been playing the game with the most basic strategy: brute force.

If you dropped the reaper you gotta be at least 60+

you will be fine

I'm at 68 and I'm going to cheese the Reaper at least two more times. I also have a lvl 81 Messiah that I only use in emergencies. No other particularly special Personas though, aside from an underleveled Izanagi Picaro that I've grown fond of.

Is 60+ really all that's needed for the Qliphoth world without some crazy strat? I just really wanna get the good ending.

Yeah. It’s not like you are fighting elizebeth. As with most JRPGs, you can reasonably assume you are about at par if you are reaching the final boss at level 60 or higher. Anything on top of that is gravy

I never do it consciously, but since I always try to do every sidequest possible, I'm always at least 20 levels over the recommended by the endgame. Which leads to me remembering the early game bosses as the difficult ones. In p5 the most difficult encounter I had was the Bank Miniboss, since my team was worn down by that point, I missed the safe room and accidentally triggered the fight because I was trying to search the room. Got wiped and had to re-do about an hour of the dungeon just to get back.
