Well, that happened. Oh well, guess I'll see how this goes
They need to fix the writing quality first and foremost. The past few seasons have not inspired confidence in me to keep watching regardless of who it was going to be.

Well it worked with the Master, so I guess now they try it with the star.

Capauldi was the best casting choice we've had for a long time and was totally wasted as a Doctor by bad writing. Whether the new Doc is male, female, intersex or an attack helicopter it makes no difference if the writing is still fucking atrocious.

I'll miss Capaldi. Also, I saw that twist coming the moment the soldier mentioned his family.

Aye, the fact that they kept his name hidden was a massive giveaway that something was up.
But anyways, while it wasn't a bad episode per se, for Capaldi's grand finale it felt a bit lacklustre to me.

I'm kind of sad Bill won't be returning for the new Doctor. I really liked her.
Also recently had the opportunity to watch the TV movie. Paul McGann was great as the Doctor, and I liked Grace, but overall, it felt very unpolished. Eric Roberts was terrible as the Master, too.
Other than that, nothing much to add other than Eccleston is still my favourite Doctor (although mind, I haven't watched a single episode of classic!Who yet), and "Dalek" is still my favourite episode.
For me, Bill was a mediocre companion in a bad season. While I'm not glad she's gone, I can't say I'll ever miss her if she never comes back.
The TV movie was pretty decent. That said, it did have some terrible ideas like saying the Doctor is half human. That was swiftly retconned.
Colin Baker is still my favourite Doctor.

90% of that was Nardole though. All Bill was good for was stumbling into danger.

Oh, I'd say you're being too harsh on her. Really, she got me with the chips speech in her first episode.
Got a trailer for Season 11.
All I have to say is just... "Eh".

It's "eh", indeed; it's a sort of generic trailer we'd expect for any incarnation of the Doctor. On the other hand, I'm willing to bet that was exactly their intention.
Don't worry everyone see nothing's different please give us a chance
I don't like that I need this to be Good or I'll think its trash
It certainly lacks the impact of "Hello, Rose. Run for your life!"
I thinks it's the fact that it's literally just a re-tread of everything we already know which is why I'm just meh.
I get that the premiere is still a whiles away, but I would've been more hyped even if they just had mainly narration of something interesting to draw us in. But no, it's mostly shots of the companions of which we've already seen. :/

Not sure how I feel about what looks to be an ensemble in the TARDIS. I think groups worked better in the classic series due to longer stories. Even though on average the runtime of a modern series is equal to that of a classic season, the split into more stories means more characters for individual episodes that need to be made interesting for their one-off appearance. Then again, in recent years we've had trouble fleshing out a single companion over the course of a season even when every episode was a two-parter, so it all comes down to the scripts.
