-1 for Nerve Damage. I was puking rainbows of facepalmery and shame just from hearsay alone. Way too much asspulling with not enough justification for it besides "uh hey guys I think this might be cool even if there is no basis for it", which would sometimes be okay in my book except the actual presentation of what happens is just...bad.
It's not how you should do a crackfic. Really. Especially if said crackfic is supposed to be "taken seriously" like what the author intends.

I'm willing to bend canon a lot for fanfiction(the amounts of arguments I've had over Arturia Lancer attest to that), I'm not willing to have canon thrown to the ground and defiled with a chainsaw. There was a stupid amount of overpowering Shirou through stuff that makes no sense(word swords, nerves that increase od as well as circuits, 4 sabers). Then there is the orgasming food scene, enough said. Everything in the entire 5 chapters I read seemed to have the goal of allowing the author to have his perfect little fantasy life and I don't read fanfiction to masturbate to someone else's dream.

-1 for Nerve Damage. Yeah, first time I read it I knew it was trouble, but I decided to give it a chance. Then he had to give his Mary Sue( I refuse to call his main character Shirou) 4 Sabers, and make orgasmic cooking( I don't care if he keeps saying it's an omake, the fact is that it used to be a real chapter, and that's enough for me to know that the author is whimsical enough to write things like this and consider it serious), and a horrendous OC. It's basically like one of those terrible Naruto fics where the Naruto gets a power up after being taught by a mysterious OC whose past we don't know of and is basically just an excuse to make him stronger. Shit is like a plague.
+1 for Of Leaves and Lilac. The characterization in this story is impeccable, with few if any divergences from canon (aside from, you know, sexual orientation). In particular, the the contrast between Akiha's outer confidence and hidden insecurities made this the most memorable fan-created work I've ever read. It was emotionally evocative, daring, voyeuristic at times...and even at 272,000 words, I still thought that it was too short.

A well built and reasonable fic regarding Emiya Shirou's growth along a different line than the canon routes. Characters are acting like themselves, minor extras are made use of, a capable main character through and through, and it also has it's funny moments that I will not divulge into. A good fic for those who want something different then what has been shown in the canon routes.
