well, that's really all it is when they talk about "other realms" and "underworlds" and other such places in Nasuverse.

It's not actually a different universe (e.g. Extra setting vs FSN) but more like, another plane or layer that isn't the main one most of us are in. like the "Other Side of the world", etc.

If Nasu said Medea just used a leftover of the field from the previous war then that's all it is.

Given that the Mages Association is less an organization within the overall Muggle society, rather than their own independent society, they theoretically have their own laws for everything, right? Obviously, if they break Muggle law, they are responsible for cleaning up or covering it up. Something along the lines of Bluebeard's actions is bad for all parties.

Basically what you have to understand is that magic people can't just go around breaking laws willy nilly on account of modern human civilization being far and away the dominant power on earth, and you can't just politely decline to participate since it's strong enough to do whatever it wants regardless of your personal feelings on the matter. Same way the mage association asserts its authority over mages, really. That's half the point of all the secrecy, since if society was actually aware of them it could snuff them out pretty easily.

It does not seem to interact with the overall society, like you'd expect from most RPG guilds, though, like how, in most RPGs, Mages Guilds are legally recognized by the overall mostly Muggle society.
