Dunno how much you know about Case Files and this is for the summaries and comments I've seen around here but Gray (the saberface character that acts as Watson for Waver's Sherlock in the novels mystery setting) has a talking Mystic Code call Add. And by the end of the last novel (in which the mystery involves Gray's past and why is she a saberface and such), Add transform into Kay (the why and how are explained in this novel but nobody has comment on it yet) so I can't tell you his circumstances.

Another thing, interesting how Mash's Lord Chaldeas is refer also as a Virtual NP Deployment, it's means that this Kay's NP isn't also the real one?

Have checked, the 'Virtual Noble Phantasm' bit has almost exactly the same wording as Lord Chaldeas.

Here's hoping we get a Case Files event after this next one, this series certainly deserves one.

My gf always suspects nasu has a FSN sequal in mind as it seems there is a ban on "anything stories after the 5th HGW" to those hired writers.

Finally got around to sitting down and reading this.
I liked how Sanda mentions things that showed up in other media (such as Waver's room having the Gordian Knot art hanging on the wall, as we saw in the manga version), and Kay talking about the KotR was very fun to read.
Also in relation to FGO2, I thought it was nice to know how Atlus is prepared for everything.

Also what's his status as a Servant? Why is his NP a virtual deployment like Mashu's?

Sir Kay isn't a servant, summoning servants (≒ souls of HS) being super hard was even one of the points of this incident.
He just kept on throwing out random things like Merlin said this, Agravain used to be like this, I'm not like those other knights who could turn the tables just by themselves, that kind of thing. Please don't make me take apart the entire book looking for random quotes.

Also too much lore terms for me to explain things properly and I don't want to be a source of misinformation.
These I can say without fearing any misinterpretations:
- This village was trying to revive Artoria by combining a replica of her body, mind, and soul (though the soul wasn't here obviously)
- Zuepia was watching over the village to prevent accidents, but couldn't interfere directly because of the contract Atlus has with the village.
- Sir Kay is really good at swimming.
