Finally saw the movie. It was good. It did feel a bit rushed in certain areas though, especially how they condensed the Herk fight and the Medusa fight into the same night. That was messy.

Not saying it wasn't important to fully understand the intentions and mindset about magecraft Rin has, but that with limited time, he is trying to get as most out of the couple hours he got.

The same issues arise because of the lack of foreshadowing the missing Ilya scenes presented.

Just makes me scratch my head on why they would make the one route where details really matter into movies, with a director who really likes detail.
They got the guy who is perfect at making a detailed TV series and told him to slash an easily 40 hour plot to 6 hours.

So it depends on how he "makes it up" later. There is plenty of creative angles he can go for Rin and Ilya later that summarize those points.

Sudo even did a 2 and half hour long storyboard but the editor cut 30 minutes from it, I hope TM/Aniplex allow for more time in the upcoming two movies.
