It doesn't regenerate though? It's made of opal and was able to be exploded when required. They mention that she is able to live without her heart after her heart was pierced by Lancer(at least in the english version). If Hakuno didn't know how to repair Rani's heart, then why didn't he kill Rin instead? He would presumably know how to bring Rin back since he knows how to repair a regular heart, so why kill the one who he doesn't know how to fix?

I was under the impression that he rezzed Rin with every intention of rezzing Rani next, but had the bad luck of picking the girl with a completely ordinary heart first.
He had no idea Rani's heart was so unique and weird.
