It sort of pegs the question why Kiritsugu would make an alliance (even a short-lived one) with Kotomine (and by proxy Tokiomi) of all people. I guess this means Kiritsugu fears Constantine more?

Well, in my defense, I think that Constantine already has a bloated enough reputation for Emiya to prioritize putting him out of action. Which is why Tohsaka didn't face much difficulty in convincing Emiya to work for him, even temporarily.
If I'm an unknown being, then the way I can change is unknown, too…
So all I have to do… is make them not-unknown.

I'm glad to see you noticed my recommendation. You get any more traffic for your fic?

+1 on Zalgo Jenkins's A Study in Velvet

Zalgo covers a lot of ground in not a lot of time by giving us vivid (if not three-dimensional) characters who comfortably fit the bill as suspects, some colorful language and an interesting look into how a murder in the Clock Tower really could play out. There's a lot of talk of the Mage's Association, but we hardly ever get to see any of it. I can respect any author who takes setting lore and spruces it up into something worthwhile.

I'm especially fond of moments like Catherine expositing at Waver about things like the ways a person's soul could be ripped apart. It's a great example of info dumping as it conveys information about the setting, the speaker and the audience. Rather than simply being a whodunit with a coat of Nasu's paint, A Study in Velvet shows Zalgo making a real effort to integrate setting and genre.

I'll admit I almost gave it a neutral recommendation on the grounds that Waver doesn't sound like Waver. He's too sardonic and flippant in that Whedonesque way. I don't mind Whedon's dialogue (some people abhor it), but it's just not Waver. I suppose a case could be made for this being a slightly older Waver who begun to grow into his confidence, but I also suppose I'm whining about characterization in a story where characterization isn't exactly the main thrust.

However much I whine about it, the inner monologue is fun to read. It just would have been better off stapled to an original character unmoored by canon.

All in all, it's a fun little ride that makes use of a Fate character in a non-Grail context, and I can always get behind that.

Pretty sure Kyte isn't gonna take "Fate/Code Geass crossover" as a description and "amazing character interactions" as a full review.

    Allow me then:

Fate:Covenant Apotheosis is actually a remake/rewrite of Heavy Valor's Nightmare Apatheia. Though I only read the first chapter so far, it has had me hooked to its premise even better than the last one. Valor decides to write the beginning before all the action happens, and allows us to fully see the friendship between Shirou and Lelouch as well meaning friends who happen to bicker on their different beliefs. It allows Shirou to understand that there's more to heroism than black and white, for starters. The characterization just feels real, full of life and potential, and considering his last attempt, I know Valor will go far with this rewrite.

Oh, and +1 for me too.

Fate:Covenant Apotheosis gets a +1 from me as well.

I've only started reading it but I both Lelouch and Shirou feel perfectly in character, I am very much enjoying reading about their interactions.

Although with Shirou's decision to prioritize those he can see/sympathize with over the masses, I wonder if he would ever become a Counter Guardian and if he doesn't it eliminates the possibility of EMIYA playing a role in this war unless they just pull him out of an alternative universe that is Cannon.

For those that don't necessarily care if my fics aren't all Type-Moon related.

Hmm... this is a bit of a surprise these days.

An archive of my works on the forum that's pretty accurate.

Note that I don't wish to be seen as an idiot any longer. I can't always promise better works than before, but I can sure as hell try, alright?

+1 to F/ca, if only because I'm easily won over by character-driven Einzbern inclusion. It also helps out a damn ton that Lelouch and Shirou are foils most excellent for each other. If Heavy Valor does things right, this could something fantastic.

McJon01: We all know that the real reason Archer would lose to Rider is because the events of his own Holy Grail War left him with a particular weakness toward "older sister" types.
