Highest you get in the village is Alatreon, once you've done EVERY other village quest. Village has no G-rank though.
Dinosaur birds, yes. Nice little thing called a qurupeco. It's got a very distinct beak, and is friends with the scariest beastie in the woods.

You might want to tackle the triple monster quests and get alatreon. Village alatreon is the only High rank one. Online is G-rank only (unless I missed him in HR or something).
Besides, don't you want to carve mega potions off of rathian tails? Of course you do.
I do plan do to those, but only once this Brachydios coughs up enough pounders to upgrade my axe.
And as I am only on HR 3, I still have a ways to go on the port side.
The worse thing in this game is not farming the rare stuff.
It's farming the stuff with a drop rate OVER 50%
