Makina also got hit hard with bad development. She was pretty insufferable. And yes, they did retcon away Michiru's heart donor girl. I feel like the only girls that actually did well were Yumiko and Amane.

But anyway yeah, Meikyuu and Rakuen were definite steps back. Rakuen in particular just got way too silly.

so ive finally got around to finally read VNs again. the first on backlog was the extra routes of the english LB i bought on steam

The routes' heroines were Futaki Kanata, Sasasegawa Sasami, and Tokido Saya.

Saya's route was the literal outlier of the other routes, like the backside of it. But at the same time it follows Key's traditional formula. It was good, but nothing new or surprising in it, and the gameplay honestly is a bore after a while.
Sasami's were p different too, but i like this one. We follow a route AFTER the whole dream shenanigans, and they took a different spins too it.
Kanata's was heavy. And probably the best out of all 3. It builds on Haruka's route, and shows an alternative proceeding out of it. I think it was the best because it builds on already existing route, so it got a head start compared to the other two.

My favorite is still Sasami tho.

I am still fighting with Gahkthun. I'm past Jo's H-scene and about to start the battle, seems only Reich after that (don't believe Nightingale will fight) unless Sakurai takes more sidetrips. End is in sight.

I enjoyed Sasami's the most. I couldn't even finish Saya's because I just didn't like her and I didn't like the relationship development. Kanata's was okay but it felt a little stale to me.

I tried, but Neon or whatever the hell her name was just bugged me too much. My favorite of the series is still Sharnoth.

So I finally got around to playing through Dies Irae. Won't go too in depth, but figured I'd give a few thoughts.

So on the whole, pretty good. I rather enjoyed the cast and the Ahnenerbe as manifest cravings was pretty neat. Power levels could get a bit wonky at times though, and I didn't particularly enjoy the 'this enemy is literally invincible against any trick you might pull unless you achieve some arbitrary power up' aspect that cropped up so often.

Of the romanceable Heroines, Kei Sakurai was probably the one I liked the most personality wise. Kasumi was funny but ultimately just childhood friend bait, Marie was bland waifu bait/weapon, and Rea felt barely involved even in her own route. On the other hand, I enjoyed Rusalka a lot and wish she had gotten a route of her own as well. Her ending in Rea's epilogue was nice, but hardly a replacement.

As for routes... I'd probably say Marie's was the best overall. It ended well without getting rather overblown like Rea's route did.

I just started it the other day. Does Haruto shape up? Cause I normally like the whole 'Hero of Justice' archetype, but so far he's coming on a little strong with his constant 'That isn't playing fair,' bit.

He does get better and stops using the catchphrase as much after certain revelations

Tried reading Fureraba and hated it. Picked up Tsujidou instead and found myself wishing that Ayumi or Kumiko had routes. Also, Ai looks better in her normal casual clothes than that white dress.

Man, switching to Renna or Maki routes must feel really awkward given the common route.
