Sorry to The Infamous Man in advance but... Fate/Zero Sense is pretty self-explanatory. A crack parody, plain and simple. I laughed at parts of it, but even I couldn't ignore how quickly Saber got shafted because media characters kept one-uping her. TIM got pretty defensive about it thinking the readers were butt-hurt about Saber while at the same time believing it wasn't out there. I think the worst part of this was it started a trend of fics when IRUN did it first AND better. And they do the SAME exact concept. Replace everyone BUT Saber. With the SAME exact reason no less: the grail got bored and wanted to screw with the same class that got him as Avenger killed last war.

*sigh* It's just a mess.

EDIT: But at the very least, I'm neutral towards it.

Honestly, its no problem. Even I'll admit that Zero Sense is pretty fucking horrible. I handled the characters very poorly and didn't add any depth to anything. To be honest, I kind of made that fic on the spot and didn't really pay THAT much attention to source material, and unfortunately I unintentionally bashed characters.

Honestly its embarrassing since I started the whole 'The Grail is Bored' trend, and unfortunately all those 'inspired' by Zero Sense tend to just copy practically everything I did just to be 'popular'.

With Just An Unorthodox Thief and A Different Kind of Truth, my tastes changing and my absolute detesting of cliches and overabundance of grimderp/OOC moments made me write something different. Fics more dedicated to respecting the characters, source material, and tone of both series involved. I do feel like the fanfic scene needs to lighten up, but I don't want to moly-coddle the experience either.

So if you want my best Fate work that actually respects all aspects of the franchise, read Just an Unorthodox Thief. If you want something that completely ignores everything and is practically the work of some teenager who wanted to write whatever flew through his mind and was absolutely fine with what came out, read Zero Sense.

Or don't read it. That fic is practically dead to me.

Huh? I'm not being whiny. I'm just stating the truth now that I look back on it. I'm not derecing it, its just my two cents on how you should look at the fic.

Honestly, it was made still when I was starting out. I've matured a LOT as a writer and in tastes since then.

I think he was talking about specifically dereccing (like, giving it a -1) your own fic, rather than just giving your thoughts on it.

Basically I don't want a plug or a downplaying from the author themselves at that point you're muddling the numbers.

I don't really see how first effort matters as far as -1ing.

It doesn't matter if it's the first work of an author, something written by a five-years-old, or any other thing; that doesn't make it more recommendable to read.

I'm more generous of this case because I seen TIM around the forum, have conversations with him, know he has moved on, etc.

It's easier to make wildly inconsistent exceptions and turn a blind eye when I know the guy.

As I think about it myself, and since TIM has disowned it, I admit that Zero Sense isn't that great... but I can't really bring myself to hate it, as it got me into the Nasuverse in the first place.

I'll just go for a neutral 0 rather than +1 or -1.

-1 to Zero Sense. When I started reading it, I thought it was ok, but it had several things about it that god very annoying very fast.

First, it senselessly bashed Saber. I don't remember her ever winning on her own. This continued into Stay Away, the sequel. Second, I don't like the avenger decided to fuck with the servants concept. It doesn't make any sense. And Third, Deadpool. Fucking Deadpool. He got very, very annoying extremely fast. It didn't help that he was used quite a bit throughout the story. His tired metajokes were extremely annoying and alone could have ruined the story for me. However, he also ruined Kirei. Kirei was one of my favorite characters in Fate/Zero, some of my favorite scenes in the show were when Gilgamesh and him went and chatted about what pleasure is. In Zero Sense, Kirei's 'fourth wall' is broken, resulting in an unholy abomination that serves the same purpose as Deadpool.

Last Episode never got proofread. I sat on it for two years before deciding "fuck it" and posting the thing. But yeah, it's pretty bullshit.

He's been very forthright about his opinion on the fic (a mere few posts ago in this thread, even) and had Deadpool and Kirei mention how he'd screwed up in the latest chapter.
