On parental disappointment scale, out of my siblings I rank in the middle, I think. Worse than my sister (university student, lives away from home, wide range of skills such as music, art, cooking), but better than my brother (lives at home, has a job but took a while to find one, has been in court, has a bastard daughter whose mother he's no longer in contact with, was in hospital for unrelated reasons when she was born)

Yes. If they ever do, I wish I could be working at whatever bank heads their IPO, then I would do everything I could to make sure it runs itself into the ground.

Pretty sure I'm a disappointment. Mom tried to tell me once she was proud of me working at [insert retail company] but I think she was just trying to get me to feel better.
I know she hopes I get married & give her grandchildren. Pretty sure my parents won't care who I marry as long as they get those grandkids.

I'll probably disappoint them by not getting married/knocked up... -.-; Because I'm in no rush & kind of feel like playing/goofing off/doing my own thing/being a rebel.... etc etc. Not that I wouldn't want kids with the guy I like; I just feel like such things are too soon.

Raised in a strictly Catholic family - now an atheist.

Raised in a very racist, xenophobic and anti-Semitic family - like to think of myself of as accepting and non racist as a white person can be ( and still working on it)

Raised to believe that gay people are an abomination - came out as a lesbian.

Mum ( and dad, though to a lesser extent ) wanted grandkids - I don't want them.

Raised in a ( ultra ) nationalist family - a filthy internationalist anarco-commie.

Sent to med school to become a doctor, a trophy of the family - dropped out to study humanities.

Raised to be emotionally distant, in control of myself, stable, and be a low-maintenance child - developed Major Depressive and Generalised Anxiety disorder, self-harmed, attempted suicide, got hospitalised, and have been struggling with it for years which has reduced my functionality considerably.

There's probably more stuff, this is just off the top of my head.
